Despite what they say, I can assure you it is. The Old Republic game (which is what that trailer is an expansion pack of) contains pretty much everything from the whole KOTOR series. Whilst those games directly may not be canon, what happens in them is. There's been talk of an Old Republic film since the original saga finished, it's easily the most popular thing outside of the films.
What I mean to say is that these games do not exist in the same canon of the official Star Wars canon. The new, sanitised canon that Disney has created.
They will definitely make a movie, probably won't follow this game too closely or as I said, it lets back through all the canon they eradicated.
It doesn't let it all back through, as it is far removed from everything else. It is set thousands of years before anything else that was ever considered canon. 90% of the stuff that was a part of the 'Expanded Universe' which is no longer canon, was set after Return of the Jedi.
It actually isn't. Roughly 50% is post-ROTJ 50% is pre-ROTJ. I would know, most of it is sitting on my shelves. If you make this KOTOR plot canon, you make Revan and Malak canon, which makes the Yuuzhan Vong War canon (which is referenced by a character you can meet in the original KOTOR game and some of the dialogue you can access with one of your companions) which takes place post-ROTJ. Malak and Revan are then canon, making the Bane books canon because those follow on, and so on.
By referencing a race, it doesn't make everything about them instantly canon. Making the KOTOR plot canon does not make everything else canon, as nothing is directly linked to it, apart from the Mandalorian Wars.
It's all a matter of interpretation. Really, Lucasfilm and Disney should've just made everything after Episode I non-canon (apart from The Clone Wars and Rebels). While they were at it, they should've made Episode I non-canon itself...
Well I disagree because I personally love a lot of the books after ROTJ that would have had minimal impact on SW-VII, and would make great material for movies/TV - X-Wing series, Thrawn, etc.
I think that they will do parts of the Thrawn trilogy at some point. 30 years go by between ROTJ and TFA, so I can easily see it being made into one of the anthology films set in between the two.
Rogue One fills me with hope that if that's successful more X-Wing movies will be made hopefully adapted from the books.
Oh I know, it's not about Rogue Squadron, but my suspicion is they're essentially using the idea of Wraith Squadron and retrospectively making it part of Rogue Squadron's backstory. At least that's my interpretation.
this is a question for Ellewoods......... I just got in from cinema, saw Jurrassic World, I thought it was a good movie - but what I don't understand about ppl over here is their insistance to CLAP, CHEER and WHOOP as the credits scroll........... um why?
It normally only happens when people really like the movie, it isnt an every movie kind of thing. I find its way more common with movies that have been remade are sequels or are based of something like a book where people are already fans of it. Mad Max, Jurassic World, types, rather than your run of the mill movies.
Perhaps we just like to cheer giving our money to big corporations? I guess I had never thought about whether other people did the same thing as the last movie I went and saw in a European theater was Ernest Goes To Jail. There was a theater near Ramstein Airbase that used to play US movies that were a few years old. I think I saw it in '86, could have been '87 I suppose.
