BBC have announced that Chris Evans will front a new team on Top Gear. Well, I for one won't be watching!! RIP Top Gear.
There is not many options in replacing current lineup, Evans is one of the very few who could actually maybe make it watchable, I'll probably give it a go!
I just hope that May and Hammond don't sign up! I can't see it, just hope they don't. May is working on a programme called TFI Thursday and Hammond on The Two Show!
Evans is a serious petrolhead so with a presenter who has a genuine interest in cars it might be a success. Depends if the public wants a pseudo comedy show aimed at teenagers or a program about motoring/supercars I guess. I hope Evans is equally as blunt as JC and says when a car is 5hit though.
I'm a serious petrolhead, but that doesn't make me as good as Clarkson. I don't really have a problem with Evans apart from the fact that if he was made of chocolate, he would eat himself, but he doesn't have the wit or repartee that JC has.
I will watch it out of interest (at least the first episodes) if I get the chance. However, I really would not be suprised if JC, RH and JM make a rival series ( a Top Gear bis). If they do, then it may be more popular than the new official Top Gear show.
Tbh I was starting to get board with Top Gear. I know Clarkson is hated by many on here, I have no beef with him or that. I just used to enjoy the 60min of seeing cars in detail I will only ever dream of owning plus the banter. I think they were starting to run out of ideas as time went on. I have no problem with Evens also so maybe he can breath some new energy into the program. Just my personal thoughts and opinions on it, hey I could also be wrong. Also as mentioned abouv, Chris is a worthy petrol head.
I think despite being an irritating w*nker, Evans is one of the few presenters who could pull this off creating the show his way. As long as he doesn't try to directly copy the previous format and with a couple of decent co-hosts I think it may work...
Yeah I know what you mean. For me, it had gone from a 'must watch' to watching it because I always have done. The challenges seemed to be rehashed versions of old ones. The only way this might work is if they rip it up and start again, but the benchmark is set pretty high and I don't fancy their chances.
That is the difference between the two of them ................. Evans is an irritating w anka, Clarkson a likable w anka and that is why he succeeded.
Evans will probably do quite well. Top Gear will lose a large number of viewers because he isn't Clarkson Top Gear will gain a large number of new viewers because he isn't Clarkson. Exactly the same thing happened on Radio 2 when he took over from Terry Wogan.
An exasperation of twats? One of these two will have to wear a skirt because Evans has confirmed that one will be a woman Jodie Kidd in the running apparently
Fatal mistake by the BBC in trying to replicate Clarkson with Evans. They should have ripped up the format and do something completely different with it Evans is past his sell by date too
