Well he's a striker, I'd have thought that much was obvious. If he's free I'd take him, there's obviously a couple of decent clubs looking at him so he must be at least half decent.
You're guessing, I've watched him for the last two and a half years. Liege are probably taking a punt because of how well Matt Ryan has come on over there - note when we were linked with him I was very keen to sign him up.
I was being sarcastic, when you said he wouldn't do well for us I was pointing out that we're poison for most forwards that come here because of our style of play. If we aren't paying a fee he's worth a punt, right?
A striker who can only manage 12 in 34 in a vastly inferior league to the Championship sounds like someone we shouldn't touch with a barge pole.
Only if he was essentially viewed in the same way Maguire and Robertson were last season - young, with potential, but with zero expectation.
If we lose 3 strikers, we're going to need to sign a few forward players and one who can at least score goals and wouldn't cost anything would surely be preferable to another random foreigner who'll take ages to adapt.
Those stats were wrong, they're over two seasons, he started 17 games and came on as a sub in 10 games over the past two season, he actually scored 4 in 14 last season.
That's my point. A striker who hasn't got the ability to score more than 12 goals in that league will struggle to score against far better defenders, so in truth he doesn't meet either of your standards because; A) He probably won't score goals and B) He is a random foreigner.
But that's not really based on anything. If he'd already played in England it'd have a bit more credence. The standard of the A-League isn't the same as the Championship, but it doesn't mean he'd be useless. Some players can step up and he's playing for his country which is obviously a good thing. I'm not saying if he signed for us he should be first choice every week, but I think for the money he'd cost he'd be a worthy back up.
^ this...a free striker and an Aussie one at that. Could be an Allsopp Mach 2! We'll be playing with Aluko up front on his own at this rate FFS.
Juric plays as a striker. He possesses speed, is good at holding up the ball and has been described as a great finisher. His style of play has drawn comparisons with compatriot Mark Viduka.[5] Source: Wikipedia
If we're scouting Aussies let get Luke Brattan in, nearly came across to the championship last summer. Hull born and all that.
He's not lacking in confidence if he did! Probably plays like Viduka's sister. Still I haven't seen a city striker score from outside the box in years...get him in.
