I shudder when I think how a very limited player like Mackie gave us so much more in the PL than a player with God-given talent like Taraabt.

    Its actually grotesque

I'll take some more of this:-

Rather fitting that in this match he came on as a sub for Barton.

    Mackie 'Agrees QPR Move'
Reports in Nottingham this evening have suggested that Jamie Mackie is on the verge of returning to QPR

The forward who helped fire QPR to promotion for the first time in 16 years has reportedly agreed to re-join Rangers.

He joined Nottingham Forest from QPR for a reported £1m fee in 2013, but did not quite hit the ground running as he did in W12.

The Nottingham Post has this evening reported that 'the forward has moved to London on a free transfer' - making him Rangers fourth summer signing.

Fans will now wait for the formal announcement to substantiate the rumours surrounding the tireless forward.

    can we get helguson back

As far as I can tell, this is now a done deal. Excellent news. Mackie is just the sort of player we need both on and off the pitch. He probably knows that he is not the best player in the world, but he has more commitment than most of the dross we have seen in the hoops for the past couple of seasons. 11 out of 10 for effort.

Excellent signing. Not a fan of players going back normally, but this would be an exception to the rule. A player with plenty of heart. Welcome back Jamie.

    There's a guy down the chip shop....no wrong beginning...sorry

There is a guy on facebook who said he met Chris and Les at Heathrow....he said Mackie's deal will be done by tonight and the Sandro story is overblown

And they are on the way to Madrid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps we have been saving up our discount coupons and we are making a bid for Bale (you heard it hear first)

Like anyone in life - performance in any context is a matter of will and skill.

And on that spectrum Jamie Mackie sits at nearer one pole with our favourite Moroccan magician nearer the other.

    MACKIE TO REJOIN QPR

Jamie Mackie will rejoin former club QPR from Nottingham Forest this morning on a free transfer, Sky sources understand.

The 29-year-old striker has passed his medical and the clubs are just waiting on the final paperwork to be lodged.

Mackie, who moved from QPR to Forest for £1m in 2013, will sign a two-year deal at Loftus Road with the option of a third.

As long as we're not asking him to spearhead our first team attack, he's a welcome member of the squad

My initial reaction was negative as I'm a none believer in bringing back former heroes because they very rarely come back better than when they left. Mackie is a special case though as he should never have been sold in the first place last time we were relegated. He brings some very needed attributes to the squad and also helps balance the squad. Balance was badly lacking last season, but it is looking to be improved under Ramsey.
And if it's on a free it's a no brainer for me, good piece of business.

Graft, not necessarily flair is the name of the game in the Championship with more matches and Mackie always seems to give give 110% harrying opposition defences. So Faurlin, Hill & Mackie will be the only vestiges of Warnock's promotion winning season. We could always get party boy back to replace Murphy?

The pie stalls and kebab shops will be a bit skint now AT has gone, so he'd be the perfect replacement <laugh>
