Would love to see the honest mare Shamal Wind run a big race in the King's Stand. She's a brave type who is probably racing better than at any time of her career, and it wouldn't surprise to see her make a late charge at them. She only has a short, sharp sprint and needs to be timed to perfection. Having Moore in the saddle may be a plus, but as she needs a well timed run, I thought a rider who knew her might have been the better option. It would be great to see Moore get her home in her final race before being put to Sea The Stars.
Did your first three last night top class and combined with Lycidas and steady pace for an interest in the day with a lucky 31. Then did G force and Digeanta in e/w singles & e/w double -
congrats wooly. Tough racing today i'm on Nght of Thunder, Round Two, Sole Power, Gleneagles (doubles and trebles ONLY), Clondaw Warrior/ Digeanta and Washington DC in the lucky last - his price should shorten when Round Two hacks up. Good luck all
Lets jump on the baby bandwagon - congrats to 'Family Wooly' .. your liefe has just changed .. enjoy the ride mate ... best wishes from the WIrral !!!
Cheers guys for the messages! Am over the moon! I have said to her I will be in charge of the baby whilst she goes up stairs and rests in the afternoon lol
I trust that we have all had our two bars of chocolate for breakfast to ward off the onset of heart disease. Forget the FTSE 100 tanking on the possibility of a Grexit – that is not important. Queen Anne: SOLOW to beat Able Friend Coventry: Air Force Blue (no bet, do not touch two-year-olds at this meeting) King’s Stand: Sole Power for record third win back at five furlongs (main danger Muthmir) St James’s Palace: Gleneagles (no bet, do not do odds on; and Make Believe could be fly in the ointment) Ascot Stakes: Hurricane Higgins (no bet, do not do many handicaps here – warning: bad race for favourites) Windsor Castle: Orvar (no bet, do not touch two-year-olds at this meeting)
Morning, troops. All my Royal Ascot ‘biggies’ run later in the week so not to miffed to be stuck at the old coalface today especially as its beef stew and dumplings in less than an hour. Point of order though, troops. It’s ROYAL Ascot not Ascot. Show some respect to Her Majesty. Cor blimey your words must have the dear old military men amongst us lamenting uncontrollably right now. Anyway, Time Test declared now for Thursday. An instruction has been issued to ‘unlock the vault’. Good luck all.
Somewhat spookily, old boy, I had a phone conversation yesterday with someone who said something very, very similar to what you’ve just typed! Handazan was bought out of the county for £26k, last month, and it will be fascinating to see how he fares for his new connections. Had an enormous reputation, at one point, but ultimately failed to deliver on this for Alan King. Now 66/1 and this does appear a monumental price, today, for Handazan but he will, of course, have to overcome the Mr Henderson’s trio if he is too oblige. Re the latter incidentally I’m sure the lovely Ems Spencer will seek him out and look for an interview later on this afternoon. Expect to see loads of hair flicking and incessant giggling throughout.
2.30 Night Of Thunder is the only horse with G1 form on a straight track, and he was an unlucky loser in the QE2 last year, so I think the 6/1 about him is an insult. 3.05 Round Two has to get the nod here, particularly with the 2 Hannon horses now running on Friday, I'm struggling to see where the competition is gonna come from 3.40 Sole Power is hard to oppose here, fast ground and 5 furlongs is exactly what he wants, if he's at his best he won't be stopped. 4.20 Make Believe. Many may be surprised that I'm taking on Gleneagles, but I think this French horse is very useful, and connections will have a line on Gleneagles through territories, so you have to side with him at 4/1 5.00 Clondaw Warrior, he looks well handicapped based on his improved form over hurdles lately, so I fancy he could have a lot in hand here. 5.35 Soapy Aitken, Stick highlighted this one to me a few weeks ago, and on further inspection the form reads very well beating plenty of winners, so il side with him.
Congrats Wooly!! Afternoon all!! An eway Lucky 15 for me at some decent prices... 3:20 Strat - BALINROAB 8/1 3:40 Ascot - STEPS 50/1 3:55 Strat - NIKOS EXTRA 16/1 5:00 Ascot - BROXBOURNE 12/1 STEPS particularly interests me at 50/1 - often dwells at the start and finishes like a train. If he can get a good clean break, 50/1 looks huge for a horse who finished a close 6th in this last year. Decent eway bet for me. Good luck all!!
