I just dont see why we are persuing this. Came off the back of a bad injury at monaco. Performed badly at UTD. Is underwhelming at copa america. Is 29 years old. On MASSIVE wages, especially for a back up striker. Signing him will push remy out of the door. We have costa, we have remy. Why not go for a charlie austin? A javier hernandez? Even sign higuain? Much cheaper options who are pretty good guarantees of goals. There must be something going on behind the scenes here, i just dont see the upshot
Always a mystery when these things are going on, however, many reports Falcao will accept a very big fall in wages to join us.Add to that his weird usage at United and Jose must think he's ready to step up to previous form. Maybe his time at Utd is exactly what he needed to come to terms with the PL, and he might just kick start at full pace for us. If he does sign, hope for everyones sake he does the business, especially with Costa being so hampered by hamstring troubles. Agree Remy is much better than the time Jose gave him on the pitch, I really like him.
I am sure he will come good again and has 2-3 years left in him. When he was with us his touch was poor but his brain was still good, he missed a lot of chances but only because he made the space/took up the position to get those chances. It takes a long time to get sharp after a year out and the Prem was not the best place to start.
It seems to me that he was not happy with a role from the bench so why go to Chelsea? His time taking it easy in France along with injury has ruined him.
Remembering what Jose said, that Costa, Remy and Drogba were three very different strikers that let him change his attacking tactics, I can only guess that he feels Falcao is a best option to replace Drogs. I suppose he has an EU passport and has Champions League experience, which is probably the main reason Jose would want him. Bearself, I'd always make a youth player third striker. I know there will be times when Costa and Remy will be both out at the same time. Can we play say a Juventus type side with Dom Solanke, or Tammy Abrahams as a lone striker? Jose does not think so. It must be a question of the best possible we can get for the budget we have and fit the UEFA home grown rule. A non-home place is free and available, players under 21 do not need to be registered and indeed I think four have to be in a European squad, so a young striker will probably be on the bench sometimes.
Jose said he'll do everything he can to get Falcao back to the level he was once at? Why not do everything you can to integrate one of the many young forwards we have at the club instead? Although i did read earlier that Bertrand Traore has done enough to qualify for a work permit. Heard a lot of rumours that he's going to be in our first team squad next season. Played up front at Vitesse but seems to pretty versatile. Would much rather him over Falco, who is well past his best.
am torn and read something like Rad is purely a business deal. won't mind as long as we pay normal wages. hey he wont be worse than last year
Falcao was disappointing in a team of failures last season. With a pre season behind him, a brilliant manager and a team of champions it could be a masterstroke. The fun would be seeing the meltdown from United telly clappers praying he fails with us as he did with them.
I love the way Falcao plays like a crespo. On his day he is deadly but having seen him at Man United i'm not sure he would suit us. The way Jose plays requires we need someone up front who can offer an attacking threat in behind or be able to hold up the ball (we are not a team that leaves people up there to counter attack! and we are not the sort of team who can move the ball quickly so that space opens up easily, Hazard/Willian love to take a few touches before releasing). From what i saw of Falcao at united, he's not that quick and he's not great at holding the ball up (fairly weak). His touch is shocking when holding the ball up and although he tries, he does struggle. Where he did look good was in and around the area. He's got great movement and his touch in the box into space when up against the defender is great. His finishing was a bit hit and miss but i do think it will be back. I think he'd be a good fit where the midfielder supplies chances to the strikers but i don't think our team can do that without the striker contributing to the build up play. He may be useful off the bench or in games where we dominate but i think Falcao also needs a run of games to be deadly, something i don't think jose would offer. Therefore i hope we don't buy him or if we do, that it isn't at extortionate rates.
Piece of **** player, past it, overpaid, no good. The **** are we looking to buy a United cast off? MiR is right, just makes everyone laugh at us. Did we learn nothing from Shevchenko and Torres? Even if he turns out to be "not bad", we can get much better for much less if we actually bothered to just look. Infact its like we are managed by MiR, looked at his CV and spunked his pants without even seeing him in action.
Yep. He'd have better players and manager for sure. Hell of a risk though. Still don't know if he's definitely coming to us though, do we?
