I feel the same about that ManUshited loving ginger **** singer in Simply Red, should be Simply F****n Dead !
Not really the point I was making. You were discounting Oasis because they were heavily influenced by The Beatles, iwas merely pointing out that everyone was influenced in some part by the music that preceeded them.
I think The Smiths are the most influential band of the last 40 years but it's just my opinion. Feel free to disagree, I won't talk down to you in a patronising and condescending tone. Because opinions are like arse holes; everyone has got one.
Can't believe nobody has mentioned the faves of engineering students called Kevin-Pink Floyd and Led Zep
I am currently obsessed by The Fall. In fact, I can't see me being this interested in a band/singer ever again. Rock Stars, boy bands, idols a all become so irrelevant in their wake. Love The Smiths too though, like.
Oasis weren't influenced by The Beatles. They were like a pastiche. There are tribute bands which copy them less.
Ever considered not acting like the dumb kid that their parents re embarrassed by? Not getting, liking and appreciating the part bands played in the history of music are three separate things. You can do one or more of them at the same time. I don't get the attraction to some people of Bowie, don't particularly lik him but can precise he has been long lasting, influential figure in popular music.
oh Christ.. you might as well be wearing a "Please someone kick my head in" T-Shirt on Preston Road..
Bill is dead. One of the greatest tracks ever recorded. By anyone. Freezing Wheezing Got pasted in a bar I hope I got the number Genius.
I think it's lazy to label Oasis as a Beatles rip off. Noel has nicked from every major artist of the last 50 years. Beatles, T-Rex, Gary Glitter, The Stone Roses and even The Coca Cola Song. A lot(not all) of people who dislike The Beatles have never really listened to there proper music. All they've heard are the Lot Me Do, Hey Jude, Yellow Submarine, Let It Be etc..Revolver, Magical Mystery Tour and Rubber Soul are where the Beatles really take music to another plant IMO.
Like Morrissey, though not actually similar in style, and not recognised as much as Mozza by the mainstream - Mark E Smith is an utter lyrical genius. The general '**** off-ness' of the music and noise/out-of-tuneness/weirdness of them is just irresistible.
That is absolutely 100% without a shadow of a doubt FACT. Anyone who disagrees is just plain wrong and they know it.
