And they now being on Clyne, instead of a striker................. Feel so sorry for Austin, what a waste of what should have been a lovely honeymoon.
That was a very enjoyable game to be fair. I thought it was going to be a frustrating 1-0 with England showing good possession but no real creativity but Wilshire's second was fantastic. There should have been a red card for Slovenia's defender and Rooney should have had a hatrick but that's what entertaining games are all about.
crap? the lad did well when he came on. Added some creativity. Good call by Roy to bring him on at HT.
Can't really have a go at Hodgson. Overall played quite well from what I saw and scored three goals and won against a decent side.
This, like so many of the comments on here about England is full of ignorance imo. Lallana made England far more creative in the 2nd half and his marvellous flick to Wilshire led to one of the greatest England goals I've ever seen!! A fantastic, flowing, counter-attack goal that, if it had been scored by Germany or Spain etc, would have had people on here wetting themselves with admiration. Wilshire has the potential to be as good as Gazza imo if he can stay injury free. England are far from the finished article and are in a very easy group, but you can only beat what is put in front of you. Also, the England defence is very shaky, with no really good centre backs or fullbacks (unless Shaw can fulfill his obvious potential). I do believe that Hart is a very, very good keeper though. IMO we will see a lot of games like this with England over the next couple of years, as we will need to out-score the opposition because of our weak defence. This means that chances must be taken and the likes of Sterling etc must improve their goal scoring (much in the same way as Wilshire is), Rooney will score for England as long as he plays and I feel his missed chances of late could well be to do with him approaching the all time England goal scoring record. He missed two sitters today, but his goal was a very clever finish and typical Rooney (he often finishes into the opposite corner to the one that the keeper is expecting). Once he gets to 50 he will hopefully relax in front of goal. I believe England have the potential to be a very dangerous, counter-attacking side with bags of pace and the creativity of Wilshire, Lalalaana and Rooney. We have a lot of very good, mainly attacking young players. 3 more points and on we go. Come on England!!
