A new series started on Sky arts on Tuesday night, Guitar stars, did anyone see it? I don't usually like talent shows, but this is right up my street and I know there are few enthusiasts on here. The aim is to find the next Jimmy H, or John Williams etc. Every style is covered, including some I've never heard of and I was really impressed so thought I'd let you know. Off topic threads are cool if they're anything to do with guitars http://www.sky.com/tv/show/guitar/video/teaser?DCMP=KNC-&gclid=CNLJ_JO3isYCFQcTwwod2iwAww
Canna get Sky over here...let us know if anything comes out glowing. This Emmanuel guy is still amazing...in Toronto recently.
Tommy Emmanuel is a epic guitar player and as humble decent bloke by his interviews. Angelina is a fantastic piece of acoustic guitar playing.
A few others you may or may not have heard of: http://www.musicroom.com/blog/top-10-acoustic-guitarists-youve-probably-never-heard-of
The daddy of modern guitar playing was Bert Weedon. He was the major influence on a host of guitarists from the 50s and 60s and beyond including Eric Clapton, Brian May, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, John Lennon, Mark Knopfler, Dave Davies, Keith Richards, Pete Townshend, Tony Iommi and Jimmy Page, He wrote a best selling guitar tutorial called "Play in a day" and this was the "Bible" for pop and rock musicians for decades.
