The battle against TTIP (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership) is a battle for British democracy, and we must fight it.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/voices...and-we-must-not-stop-fighting-it-9977509.html

In days we can take a huge step to stop officials gifting the keys to our democracy to corporations such as Monsanto, Bayer.

The TTIP trade agreement would give 'Transatlantic Businesses' the power and the rite to challenge OUR laws in secret courts. This could realistically flood our country with bee-killing pesticides, gas guzzling cars and GM foods to suit. It could also make NHS privatisation irreversible.

Ever wondered why our Government is so desperate to get us out of Europe?

The European Parliament votes this next Wednesday and if votes go the right way then TTIP will be stopped dead in its tracks. Our Government and their TTIP partners realise this and want us away from the protections of Europe so we, as a nation, can be driven and controlled by a puppet Government who answer directly to TTIP corporations and their interests.

Ever wonder why our Government wants to change our access to the European Laws protecting our Human rights?

The proposed UK version of Human rights takes away our right and ability, as citizens, to protest or to object and to our freedom of speech. Demonstrations will be illegal and the Government hold the right to unleash the Armed forces to clear any 'disruptive voice'. Just how far away exactly is Tiananmen Square?

The UK charter of (in)human rights removes protection from you and me, us, citizens of Great Britain by making noble decent illegal.

We are not living in a democracy any more. Proof of this comes from our own Government leader who has stated that any one in the cabinet who votes against ANY deal fabricated on our future in Europe will be instantly dismissed. Such a fine example of his version of democracy.

Hundreds of organisations in the UK and across the EU have come together to build a united opposition our fight needs. Help to get their joint petition to 2.5 million, when it will be delivered via the media; and a march, which would be illegal under our Governments anti-human rights laws, outside the EU Parliament -

If you wish add your name and share widely:

London and other EU capitals are crawling with Transatlantic corporate lobbyists who see TTIP as a vital operation in their invasion. This is their chance to apply a rear naked choke and while we sleep make pro TTIP decisions that affect us all, every day.

The European Commission is negotiating a plan they must be told that we, British Citizens, do not want private trade courts deciding on our social and environmental standards.

The European Commission hasn't yet committed to preventing corporations from challenging laws they don’t like, or from demanding huge compensation packages from us if their “future anticipated profits” are affected by mere democracy.

Members of the European Parliament have the power to reject any trade treaty, TTIP included, but they only have only a few days to decide how to vote! Over 450 organisations have built a 'European Citizens Initiative' petition against the TTIP power grab, and if we join together now, in numbers, we can pressure MEPs to put democracy before trade and people before transatlantic profit.

I do not want my children to be drones on 'Airstrip one' and I do not want my blood-won rights to freedom destroyed simply to allow foreign profit.

No business, company or corporation should ever have more power than any nations laws or its citizens in decisions that boost profitability over democracy.

Decide on who is important in your life and fight for them.

Probably one of the most important issues of our time and people either don't care or so jaded with politics they don't want to hear. Sometimes I want to shake my friends and tell them to get engaged with this before it's too late.

Signed the petition in hope more than expectation...if this goes through along with NHS privatisation, the snoopers bill, etc...I think I'm going to have to seriously consider leaving this once fine UK :(

Well so many were disillusioned with labour and the 1st past the post system we've ended up with 5 years of being in the "****", too late now the damage is done as there's no credible opposition to what lies ahead I'm afraid

If it goes through then, in laymans' terms, we will be passively taking all the power and governance of OUR country away from our semi-democratically elected politicians and giving it, us, our country and all of our rights and freedoms away for free to unknown, unelected, untouchable corporate officials from across the pond who answer only to their global share holders.

Our country is essentially, being de-nationalised and given to the US corporations for FREE, we're not even getting £1 for the UK.

If TTIP becomes reality then this, my generation will be responsible for sentencing our children to future of passive slavery. This is happening now, while we sit warm and cozy in front of the TV watching a TV program about people watching a TV programme. Analyse that and tell me we're not already fcuked.

dude this has already happened it just a case of making things official now that's all............hence the reason I called out people for voting in another election illusion for a set up that isn't based around our interests at all.

It is a sad state of affairs but the ****s have got most if not all the world in their pockets now and they look at the rest of us the way the medieval rulers did as peasant slaves, taking public money, assets etc into private hands, they are 10 steps ahead of any protest groups knowing how to divert the masses attention away from them using persieved and real threats they manufactured eg: mass imigration, isis, disease, nukes, war etc etc etc.....
The only action would be force to meet force but that would be a terrible price for most to pay and they know it so just keep pushing a bit more every time till they are to powerful to resist by using every underhand tactic available to them !

So yes we are fked at the moment. But will no doubt find a way to overcome as done before against all odds ?

I was wondering what this thread was going to be about and then i saw 'Monsanto', and that was enough to tell me where your coming from Stumpy! This company is pure evil, and have caused toxic damage where ever they have gone, the last time they were in Wales they polluted a site near Llantrisant that is the most toxic sight in Europe!! They are these days trying to get their genetically modified crop seeds in through the back door, there is nothing this scum company will do to make a buck, evil personified, I have done some serious research on this company and it's not good at all.............<ok>

You'd be surprised how many people think they live in a democracy, already. but they are wrong. they live in an elective aristocracy, and are effectively political cattle. and this subject and thread is sure proof of that.........<ok>

"What strikes me mostly about any sort of fiscal planning coming out of number 11 is this.

There is no quality long term planning that takes into consideration quite a few fundamental areas such as, productivity, high quality training , rates of pay, Terms and Conditions in employment, management of public services, state assets, stocks and investments, energy, health, education, the environment, an imbalance of wealth, housing, the vulnerable groups in society that must be cared for no matter what. Where is the real planning and longevity, there doesn't appear to be anything of real value that improves the quality of life and prospects for the UK average person. You only need to read the Gisi reports and anything else to do with health and well being in the UK, we always come very close to the bottom.

If none of that is taken into real consideration, I don't see how George O could possibly in isolation, introduce a curb on government spending against borrowing, the country will fall down and become uncompetitive without a solid level of investment. I cannot see how selling off assets to private companies who then want protection against future loses or cancelled contracts as being discussed in EU as we write is future proofing a viable and essential public system and services.

The current government are hell bent on selling and commoditising good solid assets that the state owns that could raise the standard of services, training and investment, subsiding and diverting to services that enable the state to manage essential services better and improving the general standard of living in the UK . I think George Osborne is incompetent on pretty much every level. He has no real strategy other than to strip the assets from UK public and co and selling the state off and it's highly lucrative contracts, a solid gold customer base, and it's assets to corporate groups and outsourcing organisations who will always over and above, always protect it's own interests above delivering high quality services.

Why do you think the TTIP agreement is being negotiated to protect these companies from loss or cancelled contracts, they know very well what their mission statements say ! This is corruption and an abuse of position, I would love to know who has offshore accounts and what promises are made to whom.. There is only divestment, a reduction in every single area of rights and opportunity and the standard of living in the UK, that's not good management, that's utter failure in Public office". - ban2rights

I disagree wholeheartedly with the opening paragraph. There IS a long term plan that takes into consideration areas such as productivity, high quality training , rates of pay, Terms and Conditions in employment, management of public services, state assets, stocks and investments, energy, health, education, the environment, an imbalance of wealth, housing, the vulnerable groups in society that must be cared for no matter what.

The plan is that the Tories don't give a f*** about most of those items. The plan, in classic capitalist planning, is to burn the economy to the ground. Cut everything to the bone. Never mind the quality of the service that is provided - just make it as cheap as possible. The infrastructure of our society is being torn to shreds. Inequality is getting wider and more vulgar. The rich are getting richer. That IS the plan.
