Brown as a break in case of emergency CB is fine. Starting him next to O'Shea is a catastrophe. We have to accept that O'Shea will have one more season of prominence with the new signing (e.g. Van Dijk) playing next to him. Brown and Coates (if signed) will be the two on the bench. I can see a situation where Coates replaces O'Shea in the starting lineup mid-season and O'Shea gets phased out.

I'm over the moon for this, brown in for O'shea but not every game obviously. John can sell lemonade now before the games, he'd be good at that :emoticon-0167-beer:

£14 m was offered for Borini and at the time a very good deal. And there is some huge mistakes being made by Short with Whickham, O Shea and Brown given new contracts, and Bridcutt being signed, so what next ? another relegation battle with Villa to look forward to.

SAFC.com are keeping tabs on Coates escapades over the Copa America. Would it be doing this if he was going back to Liverpool? Or am I reading too much into it?

And there we go, not even 8 days gone not not a single permanent signing through the door and it's emerging that the wage bill is a problem. Both Roberge and Fletcher are struggling to be shifted because they'd need to take a wage cut. Like I said, the bigger picture.
