Micah Richards just been released by Man City. Doubt he'd fall in line with our pay structure but would be a superb signing some a mid-table prem side.
http://www.espnfc.com/blog/the-toe-poke/65/post/2485910/the-best-free-premier-league-xi I've always rated Sylvain Distin, though he is about a hundred now, so I think he could do a job on the bench for us
I hope the Mulumbu story is correct. An excellent addition to midfield. Would signal the departure of O'Neill I would assume.
Rumour confirmed on EDP now: http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...oussouf_mulumbu_following_wba_exit_1_4108293?
Hmm, hardly a signing to get the pulse racing is it. While I admit we need to be a bit careful after getting our fingers burned with RvW last time we were in the Prem, I think with the £millions we now have at our disposal we should be aiming a bit higher than a 28 year old who is not considered good enough for a lower / mid table Prem side.
? KIO I think you're going massively overboard on the inexplicable pessimism here. Mulumbu stopped playing for West Brom because Pulis came in and didn't fit his style, plus his contract was up. He's all-action (which Neil will love), combative, but can pass the ball on the deck a bit. He's pretty much the perfect back-up to Tettey, with bags of PL experience. I quite literally can't think of a better signing for us to compete with Tettey that wouldn't cost millions or be totally inexperienced in the PL. And the fact that he's rejected by Pulis is almost a positive IMO. And 28 is pretty much perfect for a freebie - he has at least three years in him and yet got so much experience compared to a wet-behind-the-ears youngster. I'm absolutely delighted with this signing because of I've rated him for years, and it means we haven't spent a penny on filling one of our main holes (back-up to Tettey) which means more on a striker, winger and the defender that everyone seems to think we need.
I agree it isn't necessarily exciting, KIO. However, a bit of healthy competition for Tettey is surely a good thing. Mulumbu is a good, Premier League player. On a free, I think it's a good bit of business.
I'll bow to your greater knowledge guys and be totally honest with you in as much as I've never really seem him play.
Fair enough I can say he was absolutely brilliant in their 0-1 win against us when Hughton got sacked. Maybe I'm a bit biased because I've always rated him, but I am sure this is not a disappointing signing. I can see him taking Tettey's place by the second half of the season. (Assuming he does sign - it's all still rumour at the moment I think?)
Not to mention, they signed Darren Fletcher, so Mulumbu dropped down the pecking order as a direct result.
Howdi all. Long time no speak? Mulumbu would be a cracking signing on a freebie - I certainly hope there's some truth in the rumour. One of the best freebies available this summer and in my personal opinion, better than Tettey at that holding role - and I'm a massive Tettey fan! But combine the two and we'd offer some seriously good, Premier League quality protection to our back four.
I know! It's been an eventful few weeks hasn't it?! Wembley was an amazing day. Still not quite sunk in.
Slight difference - we were taking the Leeds captain every transfer window rather than the players they wanted out of the door. That said would be very happy to pick Mulumbu up on a free. Maybe we should go back to Leeds for Sam Byram for that warm fuzzy nostalgic feeling.
