To be fair, I've been on holidays like that where I've not been looking forward to them and they have been quite good, so maybe it'll be the same for you. Hope you have a fantastic time, it'll be good to get away and you can just forget about all the rubbish at home for a while.

I watched the first one and thought it was pretty good. Just haven't got round to watching any more.

I watched The Interceptor on BBC One last night - a real throwback to the likes of The Sweeney. Nowadays, it looks like a cliched, muddled mess. Oh, and Trevor Eve plays the villain.

Take yourself away from it a bit if you can Jen. Bring lots of books (or a Kindle if that's your thing) and concentrate on relaxing when and where you can. Be unsociable and spend time with yourself and a good book. x

I've since watched episodes 3 and 4 of JS & MrN. I'm kind of hooked now, perhaps for the wrong reasons. It's not unmissable, simply because the subject matter doesn't really interest me. But everything else is so well done that it is carrying the series along for me.

As for crime series in a modern setting, I can't watch them. Probably the last one I watched was Bergerac, and that was once in a while. Obviously, I do make an exception with Sherlock Holmes [hence the other reason for my forum name] and I've liked the Cumberbatch adaptations, but there it pretty much ends.

That, I don't like to see posted on here. When someone admits to feelings that deep then something is obviously very wrong. Are you really hurting or can you see yourself pulling through your depressed state.? Are you in any danger of doing something silly.? I'm only asking to make sure I know how you feel.

It seems to me that you need to talk to someone. Not on here, we are too remote and detached. And besides, posters on here might get the wrong idea. Go on that holiday and, as LTL says, take a good book so that you can hide away when you need to. But also try to join in to distract yourself from your troubles. When you get back have a reassessment, and if you still feel as low as you do now then have a chat with an older person who you can confide in and whose judgement you can trust. If you can't find anyone contact your doctor. By all mean keep us updated. Take care of yourself, Jen.

Today's society scares the crap out of me.

Read this email I received yesterday from a friend and for those of you with young daughters (or sons too, really), please be as vigilant as you can. The guy who wrote this I know well, is far more IT savvy than I am and he is absolutely sick to the pit of his stomach. He is devastated. My children go to the same school.

    Dear friend with a daughter,
I’m writing this having been up almost all last night with the police and feel sick to my stomach. I ask for your discretion but are sharing this in the hope of protecting your child(ren).

Please do not share my/our identity with your children if they know my daughter as I’m concerned if this should get out in the school how it would affect my daughters school life.
Last night my wife and I found out that our daughter and two of her friends have been groomed by a *****phile. Her friends had been in contact with this person for a couple of days and “he” made contact with my daughter last night. Reading through the messages he was threatening my daughters friends with physical harm and that he would exposing pictures of them on Twitter, etc, if my daughter did not send pictures of herself to him. He sent her nude pictures of her friends threatening to post them online, and also claiming he knew where she lived. He also threatened her with physical harm when she then sent him pictures of herself to protect her friends, and as soon as she had done so she realised what had happened and came to speak to her mum and dad. She has been being sick all night and feeling stupid, violated, and that she has let her mum and dad down.
My daughter and her friends are only 12 and 13 years old.
The application she was using was “Kik” which is effectively a children's chat application and used my children to chat with their friends via instant messaging. They boast their typical user being between the age of 13-18 in the media. It claims anonymity to protect the users and children's identity, but sadly as I found out last night it is also the most common playground for child abusers.
Please check your children’s tablets and phones. This app runs on all devices and anyone can contact anyone anonymously, not just your friends list. Encourage your children to only use applications like Facebook or Instagram which allow you to have a heightened level of privacy and security as a chat app.
My wife and I and the other parents are liaising with the high school to support them providing some further internet security lessons as well as child protection, and as hard as this is to write I hope it helps to prevent this happening to others children.
If you know someone else with young children who will be into messaging their friends, especially a young daughter, please spread the word. I only ask you protect our families identity to protect my daughter.
I have spent a lot of time speaking with my daughter and educating her on internet safety, and I feel she does have a good understanding of the dangers. Even with all that education and understanding she was still manipulated by someone. As the police said to us last night, these people are experts in their field and trained in how to manipulate children before they know what is happening. They know the tools children use and they harvest snippets of information and are experts in knowing what buttons to press.

Sir Christopher Lee and Ron Moody both shuffle off elsewhere today. Very sad, but a couple of good innings. Great actors in their field.
