So he's also on the board of directors

Eek.... Is this real. I don't believe I have ever seen a head coach be on the board of directors. Why would this be done. Ashley has resigned from the board. And Carr is also on the board now along with moncur. I'm totally confused by this. I want to be positive but is this a convoluted way of ensuring mclaran becomes a yes man.

Hopefully this is just to indicate that he has input at the highest level on all football matters and he is not going to be wasting time on discussing zero hour contracts for turnstile staff. Its his coaching skills that are his strongest assets but I would like to see him get involved from the development team upwards so that we develop a natural progression from them through to the first team.

What if we lose our first ten games and a meeting is called to discuss and vote on sacking McLaren does McLaren then get a vote on whether he stays or goes?

As a matter of general company law directors are disqualified from voting on matters in which they have a personal interest

I wish that this extended to the government's Cabinet.

Another move by Ashley to distance himself from the turmoil. The guy really does care what people think of him more than we realise. In his 'interview' he said that the 'footballing board' make managerial appointments and buy players. Complete bollocks, but that's what he said. So............... if Schteeve doesn't work out, or we don't get any players over that big old line that trips up so many players that are on their way to SJP, or we don't qualify for the Champions League next year............... well its not Ashley's fault is it. He doesn't make those decisions. Or maybe he is planning to sell at the end of this season after all and is just laying the groundwork!!!!!

This has got to be a good thing in my eyes..It allows Schtevie to have influence and participate at the decision making strategic level...unlike pards who did what he was told with what he was given. Plus the more footballing heads, and less of the venal zero contract types on the board..The better.

Means zero for me. Political manoeuvring until I see some kind of evidence there is some thought to it. I wouldn't boo boo it out of hand, I just fail to see an point at present. There is only one thing that will kick start change, investment. That will tell us all we need to know.

What makes it a farce for me is the fact that although he is on the board of directors, he had no influence in the decision to "avoid all media outlets" other than the selected two (being sky and the daily mirror). Clearly this is a controlling decision and he had no choice.

It must be a good thing him being on the board but I do find it strange.

The proof will be in the pudding in terms of who we sign etc.
