@Smug in Boots I know you know a lot of the biker crews around Britain. Had you met Jungle? He was head of the Darlington Hells Angel Chapter. Unfortunately he died on Monday aged 65. Day of the funeral is going to be ****ing insane. I met him many times and smoked many a spliff with him. Sound bloke but completely mad. Anyway RIP Jungle http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/ne..._death_of_legendary_North_East_biker__Jungle/ please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Thanks for that mate, I'd heard this morning from one of the Ashfield lads but the photos are great. I met him a couple of times at the Kent Bike Show and, being from Durham, we both got on well. He had a bit of a funny accent though and I seem to recall him saying his dad was from further north, the Borders perhaps ........ can't remember tbh. The only other time I met him was when I helped a mate with a situation involving an Angel, from Newcastle, called Blackie. Jungle knew him and helped sort out what might have become quite unpleasant. I wouldn't say I knew him well but he seemed like a very decent lad ...... ..... just not enough mad characters around these days, RIP.
The only angel I know from Newcastle is Scotty but that's only because he settled in Darlo. Hopefully, if I have some spends, I'll be going to the 'Wake' The Town should be packed to the brim with Angels and their bikes so I'll try and get some pics for you fella. You might recognise a few old faces.
Sorry to hear this news. I was brought up in a village just outside Darlo, where Jungle worked in the local quarry. While snobby locals stared at him as he rode through the village, us young 'uns also stared - in admiration, wanting to be like him!
Well said mate Anyone can be 'different' when you're daft teenager ........ it takes a certain determination to live your life that way. Especially, as you say, when there are so many people who would love to see you fall.
It's so easy to be judgemental about others. And time and again, it's the younger generation that proves to have the more open mind. As you just exampled. There's hope for us all yet. Nice one Dave.
