Martial looked good against Arsenal, worked hard and was effective at relieving the pressure by running the channels. Reminds me of a young Adebayor, so long as his attitude doesn't match Ade's he could go far in the game.
No, but a number of relatively respectable sources are acting as if the deal has already been made. I don’t know how much I should trust them. I do know I’d like to believe it, as it makes a great deal of sense to me, as opposed to most of the rumors flying around. Why would we buy Bentecke? We have a rising star who already excels as lone striker. It’s unthinkable not to start Kane, and impossible to imagine Bentecke happy in a reserve role when he could start for so many PL teams, including Arsenal and Liverpool.
Until a story quotes an actual chairman saying their players has gone to Spurs I don't believe any of it. Then, normally about two weeks later, Spurs will officially confirm the deal.
Bar football manager experience, I can't say I know too much about Martial, though a lot of people on my twitter timeline seem to be excited at the prospect of him joining. From the clips I've seen he looks a real talent and I read that he's been touted as the next Thierry Henry (think 35 others have as well...). Interesting to see how this one develops.
The other day the Standard said something odd: they said it was a poor trait that Poch wants players who can play his system and damn those who can't, yet at the same time Moron has the same trait - as evidenced by his freezing out of Mata, Schurrle and Oscar - but apparently he's a managerial genius we can only hope to see again in our lifetimes (or something equally OTT that makes my soul want to vomit)
Khumalo's agent confirms he'll be leaving on the 30th: http://www.sport24.co.za/Soccer/PSL/Khumalo-wont-make-PSL-return-20150609
Eriksen has supposedly said he has no desire to leave Spurs and that he feels right at home here. Great to see, especially with the tweet about Kane saying no to Utd. Here's hoping Lloris can do something similar and Nabil pens the new deal. For what it's worth, I believe both will also be here after the Summer window closes.
You beat me to it, SOS. "“I feel really comfortable at Tottenham and haven’t thought of leaving.” I’m particularly glad to hear that. Now let’s not let him run himself into the ground next year.
Jordan Archer, Cristian Ceballos, Bongani Khumalo, Aaron McEnuff, Alex McQueen and Jonathan Miles have all been released, as confirmed by the Premier League's website: http://www.premierleague.com/conten...emier-league-free-transfer-list-2014-2015.pdf
I heard a rumour that Archer may be rejoining Millwall, as Forde is wanted by Championship clubs. His wages are also an issue for them, due to their relegation. There's going to be a substantial turnover of players there this summer. Might be an idea to resume our loan relationship with them.
The Standard is reporting that Real are close to agreeing a deal with united for De Gea. They say that Lloris wants to go to united and Real will sell Cassillas to the goons... great to see our special relationship with Real helping the goons again...and good to see the british press tapping up our players on behalf of united again
Cassillas gets worse with every passing season though. Wouldn't be that worried if they did sign him. To be honest, Arsenal could sign anybody and you know they would still finish 3rd or 4th. No higher, no lower.
If Casillas goes to the Goons and we loose Lloris as a result of the keeper merry go round we should surely go for Cech. If he wants starting XI football at a high level in London surely there is no other choice in that situation.
Here's the list of the players we've retained, which also says which players we've given new contracts to: http://www.premierleague.com/conten...ague-professional-retained-list-2014-2015.pdf Meanwhile, Chadli's urging Poch to increase our Belgian contingent with Alderweireld and Benteke. Alderweireld makes a lot of sense, as we need to rebuild our defence and his £14m release clause is a reasonable price to pay (and it's very Spurs to have a central defensive partnership that mainly play internationals in the full back positions...) - but the talk of Benteke is missing the obvious point that both he and Kane would expect to start, meaning we'd have to tell either a 30-goal striker or a £32m striker they'll be on the bench because of reasons. If we were going to sign Benteke, it would've been two summers ago when Baldini said just that - but AVB decided to go for Soldado instead.
Levy can always tell Lloris that if Get real Madrid sign de Gea, and then sell Casillas to anyone else who has finished in the top 6 of the PL over the past decade, then he is definitely going nowhere.
"Meanwhile, Chadli's urging Poch to increase our Belgian contingent" We need to restore the Croatian quota ASAP.
