That's 4 goals in 3 games for Rooney.

Yet again seems to be starting well in the pre season friendlies. Still feel he should be given a longer run in the team, but with all the new signings he could be loaned out again...

It's quite often said that player's need to earn their place in the team in these pre season games, so where does that place Rooney on current performance?

exactly brb, rooney deserves a place if what hessy has said about pre season is true!

also very happy with the signings, but hess said he wanted alot more PACE in the side...i just don't see much difference on that side of things thats changed from last season really...hope i'm wrong though?

Have to admit before Birchall signed, I would have started with Rooney playing behind a lone striker.

tell you what if you'd told me a few weeks ago it would be this difficult to pick a starting 11 for the first game of the season, i'd still be laughing at you now. lets be honest hess is gonna have a nightmare task sorting the midfield out

Good to see King played 70+ minutes. That could be like another signing in itself.

Glad to see we are back to winning ways! I know pre-seasons are more about fitness over result's but is nice to see us win isn't it?
I read Matty Kosylo was playing after his release from Stockport, interesting! Being from Stockport orginally I have heard of some county fan's say that he is a good young talent. Worth a punt in my eyes as he will literally be on peanuts in wages and has potential.
Any other news about any of the other trialist's?
I also remember hearing something about one of Jermaine Defoe's brothers going to jail so can anyone clear this up?
    How did Cowen-Hall do?
Also how did this greek lad do? Part of me want's us to sign him just for a laugh!

    http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10416~2391421,00.html,

match report from os should give you more of an idea. sounds like we're taking some right randomers on trial, espically given the statement made earlier by the club about only taking a select few. as for the defoe thing from what i read he was arrested but never charged when he was in a car with a guy that shot a cop or something similar. google his name and its one of the first links that comes up. personally i think we should stay clear unless he has real real potential

Well you say that but the last time we had a criminal at the club he went on to play in the Premier League! Could we have another Marlon King? (Joking)

at the moment it seems this paris cowan-hall could be the best option out of the trialist as he can play on the wing as well, still young, believe he has a bit of pace about him and unlike the other stiker we had with us early in the season he can actually find the back of the net (although whether he can do it consistantly is a different matter)

Out of the trialists to play last night the best by far was No 10 - Matty Kosylo. Came on up front and looked lively with a good amount of pace. Lee then went off injured for Defoe and Kosylo moved back to midfield. Looked even better there, controlling the play, chasing back, calm on the ball. Really did look the part. Certainly worth another look!

    Defoe looked lost.
Dionnis flits in and out but looks good when he has it.
Paris Cowan Hall was much of the same, good pace and lovely goal. - Worth another look.
Gazzinga the keeper we saw the best and worst of - awful kick straight to their CF followed by a top save.

Definitely intrested by P.C.H. and young Matty Kosylo.
