It seems that Charnley does actually own a pair after all. However it reflects badly that he got Carver to tell Taylor and Jonas over the phone that they could fcuk off before he sacked him. He may have grown a pair but it seems he is still spineless. Overall, good news I think

As if mike would splash out on luxuries like lights, sheesh.

This is progress though. Now we just need to appoint a manager and spend 50 odd million on players and we might be a half decent football team again.

Had to happen if we are to move on. A clean sweep was always needed, and for once this seems to signal some small degree of appetite to start the long, and most probably painful, task of turning this mess around.
When you think of how many of the team have stagnated or worse still gone backwards, the finger needed to be pointed St the coaching staff.
Now let's see a few solid signings and hopefully a few green shoots of recovery.

    Get in!!!

I got to hate Carver big time.
The way he had a pop at the fans for booing at the end of the game when we got hammered at Saints was a disgrace.

    Finally a decent decision!

Carver had to go, just simply dreadful on every level.

Hopefully McClaren will come in with his own choice of staff, top to bottom <ok>

Joking aside, there's not doubting he loved the club, it's just that he couldn't see how crap he was at the job of caretaker. Blame could be put on the lack of players etc... but his tactics were poor, man management was poor (lost the dressing room) and his ability to interact with fans beyond the 'I'm one of them' statement was also poor.
As I fellow fan I genuinely wish the bloke all the best as, at heart he's meant to be a decent chap and he tried his best.
I can see him getting a job in the lower leagues now.

Now that he's gone I'm not going to be dancing on his grave. He was offered the chance to manage his home club. Anyone in the game would have jumped at that chance and would have believed in their own ability to do it. He was hopelessly out of his depth but it isn't his fault he was offered the job. He's one of us. Truth is he should always have been one of us (on the terraces and not in the dugout). I hope he finds something nearer his level. He obviously has some ability or he wouldn't have survived so many managers, but what he has is not premier league level.

All of this is indisputable, but his insistence on disputing it was what turned everyone against him. I'm all for people believing in themselves and flying in the face of opinion - Pardew got four years out of that act - but when everything is so categorically awful to not have the decency to just humble-up a bit and say "look, I'm trying, we need to stay in the division then I will gladly step aside for someone more qualified" would have worked wonders and we'd have been safer with that stance.

Imagine you're playing for this clown, usually out of position and without direction, and all you hear from him is "look, i'm the boss, reet, and i'm ganna be the boss fa eva, and tha's nowt ya can de aboot it".....must be depressing. That your MD does the square root of fck all either is just embarrassing.

It's worked out fairly well for Mike Ashley, hasn't it?
He can now stick virtually anyone in the job and people will think, "Well, at least it's not Carver"!

Indeed... anyone would think he had planned it.....

Good Twitter spot too. I sat and had a pint with Tim Healey and Vinny Welch in Consett last summer. Lovely pair of lads.
