Are you implying you had to take a cleaner's job to pay for your Sky subscription?

It's getting more costly partly due to the amount of people who are getting it for **** all as opposed to paying for it..............

If the option to stream wasn't there many of those who are currently nicking it, would choose to pay for it (again) rather than not see it.

That makes no sense whatsoever, why do Sky need to increase their prices to make up for people that are not, and never have been Sky Subscribers in the first place?
I mean its not like its costs Sky more to screen football the more people who watch it.
Every time someone streams a game it costs Sky the grand sum of **** all.
There are potential earnings there they may have lost, but thats if every streamer DID decide to subscribe.
You are saying Sky doesnt make enough as it is? And thats because of piracy? I really doubt it bud.

Why? If it bothers you, don't pay.

What are you moaning about then? Be proud that you're keeping it the way you like it.

Utterly nonsensical claim for which you have no proof.

    Seriously?

Firstly, you can't say that the people who currently stream Sky's copyrighted product, have never previously been subscribers, as I'm sure plenty have - but as streaming technology and bandwidth has improved they've ditched the subscription.

Secondly - supply and demand? If there's more people paying for the service, then the need for them to ramp up the cost as their cost of purchase increases is lessened.

Even if that were the case, Sky doesnt HAVE to try make up for earnings it may have lost if people subcribed.
They have no idea who would have subscribed and who wouldnt, and punishing the people who DO pay is even more arse backwards and is going to make them less likely to keep paying.

    Again, because of greed.
Only because the clubs and players want to horde as much cash as they can and are grossly overpaid.
I cannot justify in my mind, a family earning an average wage having their expenditure increased because Sky are having to pay more and more for football coverage, all so that players can take home an additional 20k per week.
So if some people want to stream....let em!

Yeah lad the idea of removing something that people love and is available for free, might make some of them actually choose to pay for it, is completely nonsensical. <doh>

    I pay for sky.

I believe it's arse rape in UK compared to say usa where they get all games on one channel plus choice of games they want to see.

They have us paying 2 and 3 times for the same product so anyone not falling for that imo shows a modicum of intelligence.

I pay sky for cricket, now f1 and a couple others like rugby and the occasional golf..

I will not pay 3 subscriptions to see football

I know its a complete piss take.
You gotta pay Sky, BT Sport, now yet even extra to watch CL games on the BT package.
Its going to get to the stage where every competition will have its own TV package and subscription.
You will need a subscription each for both domestic cups, the PL, The Europey and the CL.

    Utter ****ing madness.
All this best league **** as well, I think the PL is the best, but not for any reason other than it is our league, with teams from our cities that we know and love, with the team we know and love in it (whichever team you support), and is part of our culture.
**** spain and their Getafe's and Malaga's etc, I cant get behind that ****. Every team in the PL means something to me, because when I see that team, I know where its located, how their fans sound (accent wise), have been to pretty much all of them etc
    It feels like proper football.
And that would be the case for me, with or without Sky money....it WAS the case without Sky money, before the PL was formed.

Their latest price rise doesn't even cover the price hike that they've paid for the next rights deal, so their margin is going to decline. They reckon they'll save some of the cost through internal efficiencies, but if their subscribers start to decline then there'll be a major issue, both for them and ultimately for the game itself in this country.

I must say watching Spanish football is muck

Either watch someone get mullered or a dive fest if teams are in any way matched

Sky still makes hefty profits but in their last published figures their profit was down 18%, the reason given was the increase in football TV right costs. The next deal will see them fall yet further unless they gain additional subscribers or cut costs.

Which they will, new generation = more households = new subscribers
I see what you are saying Tobes,
if everyone was a prick about it and streamed illegally there'd be no product to sell, I get it.
But when you see the figures of the profit these companies are making...17bn I think it was for the last financial year, talking about an 18% drop.....
