Here's some more interesting reading about how the Newcastle supporters wanted Robson booted out .......... https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=tqtg0tCWXEIC&pg=PT78&lpg=PT78&dq=bobby robson booed at Newcastle 5th&source=bl&ots=EpdrpvtU29&sig=5_zrqBTYspICFbV6SKvvEjKUBV8&hl=en&sa=X&ei=oA12VcKHPIG5UK2vgdAB&ved=0CEcQ6AEwBjgU#v=onepage&q=bobby robson booed at Newcastle 5th&f=false There's even a forward, in the book, from Sir John Hall.
I see words but I don't see numbers. Nobody has denied that there was booing, jeering and possibly worse from a minority. I have yet to see proof that the opposite is true.
Merely pointing it out. I am waiting to see some sort of poll. Until then, I remain extremely unconvinced (as someone who regularly went to matches and heard/saw a lot)
Then you'll be sitting there all night, I'm not doing another search and polls are only ever answered by a few thousand people in any case. The fact that 'the team were booed off and 25% of people stayed' plus 'jeering from all parts of the ground' says enough. if it's not then it's obvious you simply prefer not to believe ....... which is your choice.
25% might be about right in terms of the percentage of people against him. Probably a bit more really. Still a substantial amount but not a majority. It was vocal but I can assure you, more people were shocked by it than were expecting it. I extend the same to you mate. The one thing we probably do agree on is that we find it galling that the people who did boo him would in turn claim to always love him when he passed on.
Fair enough. I'd argue booing players, booing the team, booing a performance etc doesn't equate to wanting the manager out. People had cause to be upset as we failed with our season objectives, similarly to how Liverpool have done this season. Still I'd agree those who booed were fickle in the extreme.
What those posters of a biased predisposition are failing to mention mate, is that if we take newspaper articles and player quotes as gospel, then it is an absolute fact that Sunderland fans got Bruce sacked for being a Geordie and racially abused Sol Campbell
No, no, no, no, no. Wessington Way is the gateway to the righteous whereas Barrack Road only leads into a black hole of delusion and fickleness. I laugh when people use quotes attributed to Craig Bellamy or Kieron Dyer as "weaponry" against us. These guys hated Sir Bob more that the booing fans did. The players weren't shocked. They were the main reason he got the chop
Exactly, although it's no surprise that outsiders wouldn't understand this. FFS Bellamy and John Hall are the people who I've seen mentioned on this page . At the end of the day those who were actually there know the truth mate, and while I will always be disgusted by the MINORITY who booed Robson and then immortalised him after his death, the mackems are always going to believe what they want to believe and our protests won't change that It's part and parcel of rivalry and would we have it any other way?
I come along that way at least once a fortnight. Loads of dealerships, mainly bog standard stuff. If you want more upmarket there's a place on North Bridge St just along from the Vic club. Mercs, Beemers, Saabs, Lexus & so forth.
Big tendency to over think the Robson saga and attribute to rogue players, fans and even chairmen/owners. The biggest element here is impatience by fans and owner who needed a scapegoat for a lack of failing to match their dreams and hopes and Robson became it.
That's the place I'm thinking of. The prices seem surreal. Not sure on the mileage or anything else on them but they can't be too bad!
You see, at least I provided summat to back up I've said ....... you and Cardew are just making things up and posting reciprocal smileys. Never mind, as long as it makes you feel better
