Well I heard people make that prediction years ago, but I hear they have been running fine for the last 10 years. Also the value of the car has increased significantly in that period, and it passed all the necessary checks it had to adhere to. The red ones on the other hand, struggled like hell to be compliant with regulations, and the model just made it by the skin of its teeth
LOL the anaologies are becoming less and less thinly veiled. Erm....Well the red ones engine beat up a DJ once.... please log in to view this image
I've regularly run down DJs thats gansta. your choice of blue car is just crap. but at least its not a Chevrolet. we can all agree should nasty tacky crap is not for us ... sort of
The red one comes with its own set of wheels and the spare is a genuine version too. The blue one only has a single spare plastic wheel
hehe Well that one, its head engineer decided to retire and they replaced him with a guy who had been performing really well at Skoda, but couldn't quite hack it at a more reputable manufacturer. Now they have been bought out by some mad dutch firm that did wonders in the 80's but might be losing it a bit and its costing A LOT
My first was a beautiful toyota carina i got given for free. Was supposed to be a 1.8 but it was slower than lorries.. Since then its gone 206, Focus, Focus ST and currently Focus RS
I have a 207 and touched wood, other than needing some new tyres nothing gone wrong yet. Brakes are starting to get bit squeeky not so need to look into but been fine. Ive had it 4 years now

Good thread. Mine was a red (faded to orange) pug 205 diesel, back when £20 would get you 400 miles. Great little run-around, passed the test in it as my driving instructor didn't bother to turn up that day......he knew is wasn't going to get anymore money from me the ****.
C plate XR2i. Would try to rattle itself to bits above 100, broke my heart the day I sold it to go on a lads holiday to Ibiza
Indeed. Had a megane 1.6, ran fine for two weeks and then died. Literally. I had just filled up and went to start it, nothing.
Agreed, love the stories to go with them. I had an '83 1.5 Golf GX with fake BBS alloys, looked beautiful but wouldn't pull the skin off of a rice pudding. I then upgraded to a C reg Navy blue 1.8 Passat CL with black Scirocco alloys. Compared to the Golf this thing pulled like a train. I strapped 2x triple 12ft ladders to the roof of it and filled the boot with tools every day for a year. That thing was indestructible, I absolutely loved it. Like this except in blue & diff wheels(basically nothing like this). I've had loads of fancier cars since but this one sticks out as a favourite. please log in to view this image
