Ok, after the whe disappointment of last season I have started to read stuff about next season & how Villa want to buy all our best players, even though they don't have the money to seemingly buy one, possibly N'Doye due to a possible clause. However if all these rumours are true that all the strikers are to leave & the probability that some wonder kid won't suddenly spring from the juniors to shoot us to Championship glory, it's surely around this time we should be making tentative moves for players, not leaving it until it's too late as usual! Regardless of the midfield, it's the strikers who are key to finishing the move off! Strikers are always hard to come by & that's why we should be looking at least 2 to move for. Even if we only lose 1. One that jumps out for me is Bamford at Chelski. I don't know what the situation is with him, but maybe even a season long loan might be available, or if we have money then a permanent move. Local lad from Lincolnshire too. Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal & other top teams must have some prospects that we could maybe borrow or take in for small fees with sell on options. Likewise with other positions. I don't think we need to go to France & Germany to get the next up & coming flop. I'm hoping that the players we have we can keep & they fight for us & we return preferably automatically. I love the play offs but they don't do good things for the nerve! Aluko & Ince could do wonders for us if they're up for it, fit & given a chance, whether they do or not is up in the air though. I just typed Aluko into the phone & auto correct came up with Slump! Doesn't fill me with confidence.
Even if we keep all three strikers I think we need at least two more we should try to get any two from Rhodes, Bamford, Vydra, Deeney, Gestede and Assombalonga. If all three of our current strikers leave I think we need to get all five of those in to stand any chance of promotion.
Rhodes, Bamford and Deeney will all be playing in the Premier League next season, possibly also Vydra(though he was a bit **** last time out), Gestede's an outside possibility, but Assombalonga is only likely to leave for a Premier League club, he'll go for about £10m.
2 out of the 5 wont be playing PL next season - especially at the start. Assombalonga wont be playing anywhere until at least Xmas due to injury. We have to shift our 3 duds first mind. As for the dust being settled, Hull City could start today with the squad we have. No championship team has the quality we have.
In the same way we were far too good to go down last season? You'll have to forgive us for not taking everything you say as gospel Tickles.
That league is tough I think we will finish mid table. Just as long as we don't go down again see Wigan, Blackpool etc. Top 6 would be great can't see past Derby, Boro and Qpr if they get the right players in.
He's more of a winger/attacking midfielder than a forward possibly but Gnabry from Arsenal could be a good loan signing, doesn't play much but when I've seen him looks like a great prospect. I reckon we will lose either Brady or Robertson if not both so will need a decent winger to come in
I have a horrible feeling about them doing well next season. They have brought a couple of decent youngsters in from Swindon. I don't think we will be anywhere near though.
At least as important is who has the best management. Not us judging by form over the last 12+ months.
Bruce is proven in the Championship and the players we have, even if a lot of them go, are more than enough to finish in the play-offs or higher. We are better than QPR as it stands with better players and management so I don't understand the comments above
We also have players who could be counted almost as new signings coming back Maguire and Snodgrass, not to mention the likes of Lenihan/Townsend, probably a few others too who might step up, time to forget about last season and concentrate on the next.
