Now worth nowt, zero, zilch, **** all. Released by Villa.Oh what should have been..Was good for a while. Bent’s contract expired this summer and Villa today confirmed that the 31-year-old has been released. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...er-darren-bent-freed-by-aston-villa-1-7298563
Do you know what Comm. If I could have wrote the script as how things would pan out for him it would have been a carbon copy of reality.
It's a ****ing shame in a way. I firmly believe had he stayed we'd be established a little higher up the league now, likewise his career wouldn't have fell off the map. We all lost on this one, sadly. With hindsight he was elbowed a little for Gyan, and he was an even bigger disaster. Good ****ing money mind...
I don't buy in to all of this Judas stuff. The move to Villa suited both SAFC and him IMO The £££ was too good to turn down, and he had joined the list of footballers to grab special knowledge of Bruce's daughter For him, he got more £££, and it improved his chances of getting picked for England There is more chance of him coming off the bench and scoring a goal than there is for Connor or Danny Graham
Last season at Derby : Played 12 (10 league and 2 FA Cup) Scored 12. Do I want him back on a free? - what a bloody daft question. YES. The only worry I would have about him is that injury he picked up at Villa. O.k., he couldn't get straight back into the team because Benteke was firing on all cylinders. But he's never played a full season anywhere since. I wonder how often it troubles him. But even so, when he plays he's always liable to score. We have to face facts - he is still better than we've got. Edit : Bent scored 12 in 17 games, not 12 in 12 as I said. Apologies.
Anyone who knocked 24 in League goals for us in a team set up for him and then claims to have gone for "football reasons is a grade A twat IMO. Judas? You're darn tootin'!!
I can't believe some posters are seriously saying they'd have this horrible Judas scumbag back!! Some people have very short memories and seriously need to give their fecking head a shake!!
I've already said I'd happily have him back, see #8 above. He'd have to supply his own nailcutters though.
Weve dragged him off the scrap heap before and reigignited his career just for him to turn round and kick us in the balls . Why should we do it again??
He's a shadow of his former self now but even if he was in peak form I'd have him no where near our club. Good. Hope they get relegated.
How many of them has he scored since leaving us like?? You can't seriously say you'd give him a second chance?? He walked out on us without giving a single toss if we stayed up or went down. His transfer request was put in with a week to find a replacement. Out of respect and sheer decency after everything we done for him he could've waited till the end of the season to request his move!
