Yeah I see how it might seem that way but I never had a need for a car in Ireland until the kids came along and we bought a family car that she drives. Same here in Finland
Otherwise I have always cycle or use public transport to get to and from work over the years and these days much of what I do does not require me to go to the office.

Public transport in Helsinki is quicker than driving, excellent trains metro trams and buses

Vauxhall Viva, two door (the one on the passenger side didn't open from the inside, so the birds couldn't escape), and just a flick switch where the accelerator pedal should be. Traded in after a year and bought a 1.6 Capri - true fanny magnet. Got a 2.8 injection a few years later (didn't like it, tbh) then that went to fund a new XRi escort that me and the fiancé shared - she got the inside and I got the outside was the apparent agreement.

Sure I read somewhere that John Lennon never learned to drive. Totally irrelevant though.

the 1.6 capri was the best car i ever had. The XRi was good, but i was getting sedate by then. Mate in work had a Vauxhall SRi - that went like **** off a shovel. A bloke in work has got a 1.6i Ford KA and loves it.

  13. I didn't have those wheels. I just googled 'E Reg Fiesta' for the image and that was the closest I could see colour wise. I had standard wheel with wheel trims <laugh>

And yes, I realise the car in the picture is a F reg too <doh>

Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 litre here. Never had a problem with it, but it was piss poor slow.
Current car is a Ford Focus 1.8L Diesel. Nippy, but had nothing but problems since the day I bought it. Will never buy another Ford again.
Not a fan of German cars - They're all over the place and pretty boring to drive. I'm thinking of an Alfa for my next car...if I can actually afford one!

  15. French cars are worse for issues. I've had a Reno Clio and a Reno Megane, nothing but problems with both. I've had three Ford's and only ever had minor issues. I had a MG ZR that had a electrical fault and then the gearbox more or less blow up on me.

Best car in term of reliability was my last, a Toyato Avensis. Having said that, I got rid because the catalytic converter was on its way out <laugh>

I remember driving my Ford Capri late in the night. MOT and Insurance expired at midnight. The car
was causing me problem and was thinking of scrapping it. The engine was finished and was smoking
heavily. I was stopped just close to my house , they asked me about the condition of the car.
I lied that I was not aware about the smoke. They took my name and radio their "office" to confirm
name and address where the car was registered. " You can go nothing to worry about" they said.
    I was very lucky.

Probably just been unlucky with the Ford. I've had - failed clutch, clogged EGR valve, burst turbo pipe [three times], failed catalytic sensor and the thing is starting to rust [common with Fords apparently.]

Some Japanese cars are bullet proof when it comes to reliability. Honda's runs for years with no problems.
