Some great beaches in the north east of England.
Just a pity you have to wear loads of clothes when you visit

    True.
When I moved here twelve years ago apart from in Athens and Thesaloniki most of the old people didn't have indoor plumbing.

I forgot! You were on the coast opposite us last year when we were at Halkidiki.

i was surprised how expensive it was in santorini last summer, eating out et al. i know thye have to make what they can during the tourist season, but it was pricey. not sure if that was the extra vat?

quite a few bods now live on the island all year round, rather than head back to the cities/mainland for winter.

If they don't give you a VAT bill you don't have to pay.
If you leave a shop without a bill for your purchases the shopkeeper can be fined .

No we live on the mainland, on the coast between Athens and Thessaloniki.
We've visited about a dozen islands, more in fact as some are only as big as a living room!

Stayed at sciathos and many more Greek Islands and the mainland.
The big problem we have in the north east is lack of flights to most Greek destinations.we have been going Greek as they say for forty years sometimes two times a year.i met a lad in Crete last year he posts on Syds site.im off to kefalos in kos in three weeks time.been to kos five times but never to kefalos.although got the ferry to kalymnos from there.
Not really happy about the flight situation it has restricted me from travelling to as many Greek Islands as I would like.love the geek people and the hospitality.
We have met some wonderful people.great atmosphere.

Yes, it's a two edged sword for us , we enjoy the low level of tourism due to the low number of flights into Volos airport but it's a struggle for our family and friends.
The Germans and Italians drive down in their enormous mobile homes and block the roads during the summer so they don't rely on the flights and most of the companies struggle. It was better when Tapestry came.

    Excellent. Enjoy yourselves.
There's an Agios Georgios about twenty miles from us but it means St.George so you can imagine there are dozens of them in Greece. Is it the one on Corfu?
