Probably playing it safe over the radio. If it was a rival teams driver they'd be telling him what they'd heard over the radio I imagine.

It's not coaching though. It's just data.

    Doesn't really change much though.

Not a bad race in the end after a bit of a dull start.

Bit nervous at times but you also got the sense that things were under control. Bottas made hay with his chance so Williams will be happy there :)

I'm not sure if anyone knows what the rules are, or under what circumstances they're breaking them. Surely relaying any information that can be used to an advantage could be 'coaching'. repeating what another team have said to their driver about a problem and telling your driver to attack them could be construed as coaching.
As for the race, bit lacking in action for a Canadian GP, but there were a lot of good drives, Hamilton, Bottas, Vettel and Fernando keeping Vettel behind in the McHRT was a supreme effort.
    Even Maldo finished.

I didn't get it either, during the race I'm sure I heard the engineers comment about both drivers to the other.

Massa, Vettel and Hulkenberg impressed me. Happy for the first and last especially, a cloud of doubt had covered their prospects in F1.

Can't really complain about Nico tbh. Barrichello, Irvine, Webber etc all had the same job description.

But you also can't take anything away from Lewis, walking this title and in a way I am not spiteful as I have been in the past. Hes earned this.

I thought that was a shocking race! Merc running in formation from the 1st corner with no intention of racing and Kimi unable to replicate the constant pace of the sister car.

Blame Rosberg if the race wasn't exciting at the front. We kept hearing of this attack coming from him but nothing happened. He then said on the podium he was pushing like mad which says it all. Same old same old.

Every overtake was DRS normally by an out of place faster car! The only ones who can make it half interesting are the Mercs - and God forbid they actually race each other!

Really shows how bad the McLaren really is!

Just the usual PR bullshit! Merc are the ones to blame, no contra strategy on tyres or stints, just pre determined instructions.

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff on the calls to "lift and coast": "It is a fine margin we have. We want them to compete against each other, so you need to watch the brakes and the fuel consumption and this is the fine line we need to walk on.

"You must not forget that Sebastian had a really messy race. We didn't see the real Ferrari performance today and this is why you have to stay careful and continue to push."

Only Rosberg can do something about that I'm affraid. He just needs to find something.
