Good goal, shows what he can do if the ball is played to his feet and not just pinged in from crosses at his head.

I'm struggling to comprehend the title of the thread at the moment. Goal...........Hernandez. Cannot equate the two things in the same sentence.

I still think he could be very useful given time. It's irrelevant now anyway as we'll have to lose his wage.

Yeah, for his goal, which he took very well, he got an assist from a marauding midfielder. It's that that we've been missing. The nearest we have to a marauding midfielder is Meyler, I was also hopeful that Livermore would also become one but that turned to ****.

It's right what Sterling says, we have never really played to his strengths, he'll probably go elsewhere and score hatfuls no matter what Roo may think. Our central midfield this coming season, as it was last season, is still the crucial area that needs strengthening, although it shouldn't be after spending millions on Livermore and Huddlestone. They let is down badly and Hernandez has, in the main, been the scapegoat for their terrible displays.

I suppose the only way he'll stay is if no one comes in for him. Good performances like this one for Uruguay might help in this.

Good stuff, maybe he's just happier being in Uruguay.

Great finish, hopefully if he does that in the tournament itself he'll boost his fee.

Would be happy loaning him for a season and gambling on going back up to be honest.

Do we need to change formation, style of play to get the most from our strikers? Or simply find that elusive creator from midfield

Somebody like wes hoolahan from norwich who can unlock defences

It probably helps that Uruguay have a better team than we do.

Whether he'll stay is a different matter, I don't think it's any secret that we'll be looking to flog him, but in the event that we can't I don't think it's a major issue having him here in the Championship. He stayed at Palermo when they went down to Serie B, but it wouldn't do his international chances much good playing in the second tier.

Didn't think we had to sell anyone I would have thought it would me more down to the player if he wanted to move. I do think he's a decent striker we just need to work out how to get the best out of him.

Maybe we didnt. But, whether you cost 10 million or 10 bob there a level of effort and application you need to put in and he was nowhere near it. If he didnt fancy England then he shouldnt have signed. Its not like he wouldnt have been given advice and info from players he knew who have played here.

As good old my mate Harry Quill says, it was the 8th ranked team in the world, Uruguay, versus the 93rd ranked team in the world, Guatemala.
So Hernandez scored a goal against the 93rd Ranked team in the world WOW! That should put a few million on his asking price!
    Bollocks! Or, as we say in Italy, H o r s a s h i t t a!

It was a very nicely taken goal, regardless of the opposition.

I don't know, he's still geting caps for La Celeste.. he's third choice striker.. it's quite an honour really, Suarez playes for the La Liga & CL winners, Cavani for the French triple winners and Hernandez for Hull City of the English second division.. we are holding our own :)

Roo doesn't like it when Hull City strikers score proper strikers goals. It makes him look a fool. Well more of a fool. Even more the fool...

I know we like to criticise strikers on this forum (some more than others), but does anyone else get the feeling that it may be us, not them? Ulloa scored goals for Leicester, Ings for Burnley, Austin for QPR. At some stage, we should stop blaming the strikers and start pointing fingers at the inept and one-dimensional midfield. When was the last time we scored a through ball goal with the striker one-on-one with the keeper? The last midfielder we had who played through balls was Koren. We rely on Elmohamady's crossing for goals and it really is tedious and predictable.
