Interesting why he resigned, why didn't he just drop out of the running? Does that mean the Prince takes over? Bloody ridiculous FIFA as an institution has become.

Good news, but this should have happened a long while ago, in my opinion.
I wonder what prompted him to change his mind. Didn't he say he was going to run for a 5th term not so long ago?

Happy with the decision but a bit bizarre in the way it's happened.

I am guessing that some new arrests or new evidence is in the offering and he has jumped before he was pushed.
I wouldn't bet against him being on the take and as corrupt as the others !

I can't see any other way that Blatter would resign unless there was incriminating evidence that would make his position untenable.

Up until now he's clung onto power like a ****ty old tagnut swinging from the matted rear of mangey old mutt

Considering how adamant Blatter was that he'd continue regardless of the amount of scandals and corruption allegations at FIFA, and his total 180 to resign straight after winning the election 'for the good of football' (even though he hasn't cared much about that or anything else good in the last 10 years at least). I'm wondering if as news of the FBI investigation turning it's light on him has come about, that the main sponsors have demanded he leaves - VISA already distanced itself from FIFA when Blatter was re-elected, and the World Cup is the biggest money making sporting tournament in the world, behind the Olympics. So with the other main sponsors - Coke, McD, Hyundai being unhappy with Blatter for the bad press its bringing on itself and any company associated with FIFA, I wonder if they were one of the main drivers to finally forcing the (allegedly corrupt) old fool out, after 20 years of trying.

And Morocco were also apparently giving bribes as well according to the article, lol, every one of them seemed to have done something wrong.

This whole scandal stinks far more than just FIFA and Blatter,. Why has this suddenly been brought up when this has been going for a very long time, and why by the United States FBI? I find it hard to believe that their intelligence wouldn't have known about many years earlier. Also why would the US take such a keen interest in a sport they care so little about and why there is so much coverage in their tinpot media? The US public certainly couldn't give two sh1ts about soccer.

When you look at the current political world climate, you soon realise why this is happening now. You have the G7 meeting up (minus Russia) and what is the main topic of conversation? Russia. Who is hosting the next world cup? Russia. Who have the Americans been desperately trying to get more and more sanctions on? Yes the Russians. In my opinion, none of this is a coincedence and the Americans will be using this as a way to coerce the EU (who are reluctant to apply more sanctions) and Russia to follow their line. We've already seen plenty of media attention on this and the questioning of giving the World Cup to Russia and Qatar. We will continue to see more and more stories about this.

Just in case you're wondering, i'm not a Russian or something, i'm just bothered by all the self righteous bullshire that is being spouted.
