i was gunna post at the gerrard and macca ones but thought it might start a ****storm and i like this thread to much
Jezz. You're correct on Beardsley. Did you know that Ron Atkinson signed him for £300k in 1983 and let him go on a free in 1984 after 1 league cup appearance, because he thought Norman Whiteside was a better player. In 1987,Ron Atkinsons successor one Alex Ferguson offered Newcastle £3 million for Peter Beardsley. As for the other question the answer is Youssef ''Yossi'' Benayoun. The third Isreali International to play for Liverpool following in the foot-steps of the late Avi Cohen RIP(who is famous for scoring at the same end for both teams in 1980 against Aston Villa which clinched the title). The other being Ronnie Rosenthal who scored 7 goals in the remaining 7 games of the 1989/1990 season.
i knew the beasley one because i think you rubbed the transfer statistic in my face before the benayoun one is interesting tbf
Whenever I hear Ronnie Rosenthal I always think of THAT miss ( I think it was him - against Villa ?? )
Jezz. Here's one. Name the only player to play in a London Derby. A Merseyside Derby. A North East Derby. A Midlands Derby A Milan Derby. Name the clubs? Here's a hint.Nigel Benn is his cousin.
Did'nt Ronny Rosenthal score a (true) hatrrick on his Liverpool debut, right foot, left foot and header? I think it was against Charlton?
Page Moss. Correct. He did and it was against Charlton Athletic. He played the 10 necessary games to pick up a title medal. However he scored 7 in the 7 games. Page Moss here's a question you may know the answer to. Who is the only player to win the league and get relegated in the same season?
Jeez Kpr i wish i had'nt opened me gob Won the league with one club and signed before the last game of the season with a relegated club?
i thought it was but i couldn't think of the midlands derby one! forgot he played for wolves and boro :'( feel annoyed at that brainfart
Page Moss. It was Mark Lawrenson in the 1987-1988 season. He played the 10 necessary league games to qualify for a title medal and left half-way through that season to player/manage Oxford whom got relegated. He's also the only player to be managed by both Jack and Bobby Charlton.
It was my question earlier on, don't know if anyone got it but its Rooney, Jeffers and Mike Newell- came up in a football quiz in our local club in Sunderland. Great thread this, keep the questions coming.
