You have just provided the evidence. The UK is in the top 15 out of 176 countries, up three places from the table in 2013. The Conservatives are very keen to reduce corruption at home and worldwide.

Why single out the HSBC? I'm not talking about the dubious and greedy lending practices that caused a world-wide recession. Have you done any reading on their practices as opposed to those of other banks? Which other bank has been proven to be linked to organised crime, drug cartels etc? And I mention Cameron not simply to smear him, but because he is the very public face of an organisation with links to the bank, an organisation that won't allow investigation or prosecution in this country because of those links.

and how it differs from that of the Labour government - or links in a dozen of more other major economies - you might as well say you are corrupt BB because you live in a country where HSBC does business.
If you want to target someone as associated with corruption you need to show specific cause - not the usual smear by association generally.

Scotland does business with HSBC so bang goes the reputation of Sturgeon and Salmond - as well as every country in the EU I suppose.

Get real BB - just because you do not like Cameron or the Tories does not mean you can make ridiculous charges without backing them up. It devalues every other argument you make. Try to show a bit of balance. I cannot stand Salmond but do not accuse him of association with corruption

What reasons do you use to say our MPs are the best in
Interesting list Cologne - thanks for sharing. It never pays to be complacent about these things but we are doing ok in comparison to countries of similaror greater sizes and influence. Still room for improvement of course. Also funny to note how high Switzerland is on the list - nobody told Mr B!

Why is it that you think you are right and I'm not? What makes you think that I'm making unsubstantiated 'ridiculous charges' - have you bothered researching this yourself and reached the opposite conclusion to that of many others?

Whether or not you can stand Alex Salmond is irrelevant - you don't accuse him of corruption because you'd be hard pressed to find him connected to any. Plenty have tried - it's the modus operandi of the majority of his opponents - but all claims have been disproven.

It is the nature of arguments that each person believes they are right or there is little point arguing - do you not think you are right and I am not?
You cannot prove something that does not exist - we had that discussion on god. Put up or shut up - where is any evidence that Cameron is implicated in corruption?
Do you not trust your bevy of public officials - called tax inspectors - whose job it is to find tax evasion - I don't hear them saying that Cameron is in any way preventing them from doing their job - nor is there any evidence he has reduced their instructions to find and prevent tax evasion (actually the reverse is true).
I do not hold with conspiracy theories and simply implying that Cameron is similar to Blatter would no doubt land you in court if you ever made such an unsubstantiated assertion to his face or in media he could be bothered to follow.
Your charges are ridiculous as you provide no shred of evidence.
On Salmond why don't YOU accuse him of corruption - you seem to do so with the English government regarding HSBC so why not with the Scottish government - oh that could be because you support SNP

I am going to break the mould here and say that I am not accusing anyone of corruption - not even Sepp Blatter, because even he is innocent until proven guilty. I do not have any 'proof' against either Sepp Blatter or David Cameron and so can, quite happily, place both in the same catagory ie. 'Not proven' as the Scots say. However, I actually think that nearly half the population of any western capitalist country could be considered as partly corrupt, in as much as very few people are completely honest or at least forthcoming on their tax declarations. Many more would quite happily exchange a nod and a wink with a 'friendly' councillor in exchange for 'help' with building permission. Does not the modern system of market capitalism presume that everything (even air and water) is a market commodity and has therefore an exchange value - even people. That everyone, in effect, has his price - because 'the market' is also within us.

More or less agree with everything you say and in a court of law you are correct.
However the circumstantial evidence against Blatter is such that if he was not aware of the corruption (admitted by some) in his organisation then he is at best totally incompetent. Where is any such evidence that Cameron has done anything that aided and abetted tax dodgers. It is the old left trick of accusation and dirt sticking.

I was with you Leo till your final sentence. I think people on the right are just as quick to shout corruption when it suits.

I suspect that many of us are in the strict sense corrupt. Who has never handed over a few pound or euro notes to someone who has done a job for us and not asked for a receipt. We might guess quite correctly that the money will not be declared as earnings, but do we question if the taxman will be getting his correct share.
In the same way large corporations move their profits around the world to their different branches to keep their taxation to a minimum. Actually all quite legal which is more than the local man who comes and does a small job for us. Maybe when we find that we cannot get the job done for us at a reasonable price because of our principled stance, we will ask for a wage or pension increase to cover the increased cost.

I was thinking more about accusing politicians of wrong-doing. Agree that the right tend to accuse a lot of people claiming benefits of ..... well, not corruption as such but cheating. The more normal allegation the right wing make against Labour politicians is that they are in the pockets of Unions.
