Remember us doing a similar thread in previous summers where we selected a team of the year based solely on their performances at St Mary's I'll let the forum decide if we want to discuss this position by position or just each name a team and let the disagreements begin! I'll start with my choice of keeper....Fabianski
Team: Chelsea - even though we drew, I thought they were technically terrific. I'll say Hazard in there and Aguero from City.
Keeper surely has to be Tim Howard for his performance at Goodison, including at least one world class save from Pellè.
Hazard, Coutinho, Williams all stand out somewhat for me. And I guess two goals from three shots can't be ignored, even if we did gift RVP those goals.
Then the title is a bit misleading...I thought it was on teams we'd played away. Message to self....read the opening post in full.
Man City impressed me the most. Clinical counter-attacking that just blew us away. Aguero confirmed everything I thought about him - sheer class. How they managed to blow the League with some very odd results is beyond me.
Ashley Williams is a shoe-in, the best individual performance i've seen at SMS, he was like a brick wall.
Good shout...we could open this up to home and away displays against saints. I had my old school head on thinking, most would have seen home games, but it's 2015 and internet streams etc mean we've all probably seen next to every match Keeper short list thus far... Fabianski Howard Jaaskalinen(forgot 10 man west ham shut out)
Any advance on Fabianski, Jaskalainen, and De Gea? Not including Howard as his amazing performance was at Goodison. I'll add a poll with those 3 if not. (Not sure what happens when we move on to other positions mind...)
Add the poll please and include Howard. Think we should just make it against saints regardless of home or away. As for right back....I remember Hutton having a good game at Villa Park. Ivanovic is always a good performer, especially when it comes to diving
Added the poll, but you can only have one poll per thread. So I suggest we let the keeper one run and add new threads for right back, left back etc. as we go along.
If Tim Howard wins this it just shows how easily swayed fans are by one good thing and how short our memories are. It's like Pelle's goal v QPR; if it had been scored in April it would have walked goal of the season.
