http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/thomas-eichin/wen-wird-werder-los-41227230.bild.html Koeman still wants Elia, but the transfer committee at Saints are unconvinced. The set fee was €5m, which Saints don't want to pay - but they may still do a deal if Koeman still wants the player and they can get him for €2m-€3m. DTLW
Seems reasonable, he's got pace and decent technical ability. 5m might be a bit much but a couple million for a solid squad player who's keen to be here sounds alright.
Agree with the committee decision on this one. I can't see anyone wanting to buy him for the option value negotiated and think Werder will end up taking less With Europa league, he should remain on our radar. Perhaps as a back option on transfer targets
I agree with the decision to turn down the option to buy. But I'd be fine with 2.5m Euros so long as Elia is content with being a backup and will accept a salary commensurate with that role.
He's 28 and still stuck in the "talented but no end product" rut. Solid loan, not really worth buying.
Feel for him...he was so happy to be here. I am not surprised by this decision, but then neither would I have been surprised if we'd kept him as a cheap back up player. We're going to need more players and it was always possible that Ron might have thought he could be improved with SFC training. Presumably the recruiting department are sure they can use the money more wisely.
Sadly the lad hasn't delivered anything following his fantastic debut at Newcastle so agree with the committee's decision. If we are to take a gamble on a loanee I would rather keep Djuritic ( sorry about spelling)
He was worth a look.......Sadly though for me at any rate he didn't light any fires. I am sure there is better in the market place for that kind of fee. Mind you is it me or are we slow off the blocks again this year!!
Remember that his is still very young and has time to develop. As long as he wouldn't cost a lot I would possibly keep him as he plays in that important roll behind Pelle (or hopefully, Austin)
Agree it would have been nice to get our business done early bearing in mind our season starts next month...ahhhh!
Officially not until the 1st July.......a lot of teams though have jumped the gun........Liverpool, Man United, Everton...to name but a few......but not Saints it seems we are still thinking about it.
