I put Pako' s name forward the other day as a replacement for Rodgers if we weren't going to be able to get a big name. He fell out with Rafa and hasn't spoken to him since, last I read - I would take a chance on him in any capacity
I don't know much about coaches and whos qualified or what not but judging by whats been said above and what Rodgers has done personnel wise, i see 2 patterns emerging: 1. He doesn't like people who may potentially question his authority (leader type players). Reina, Agger, Lucas to a certain extent, Kuyt have all been sold or left out and haven't been replaced by more characters who are leaders. He has been "actively" shown to be keeping Sterling whos been a pain in the neck and Gerrard (although he was a legend) 2. He's so egotistical that he is willing to cut his nose of to spite his face. Exhibit A, although highly circumstancial, he's ostracised certain signings which are supposedly transfer committee signings to prove a point. Sahko hasn't played as much as he could (yes i know hes been injured but even when fit, he also bought Lovren), Balotelli (even when he needed a striker, rather throw him under the bus) and others. I think Rodgers wants to show everyone that he is doing it his way, with his own people and he's been phasing out the older guard in order to push forward his ideas. For me its too much the rodgers show and you can see him lapping it up in the interviews.
Benitez has already unveiled his new management team at Madrid, they all appeared at a press conference together on Weds. So he won't be going there.

Pako and Rafa have since made up. Whether they're merely on speaking terms or willing to work together again, I don't know. One thing is for sure - Rafa was a far better manager with Pako by his side. In terms of replacement for Mike Marsh, lot of rumours on an ex player returning. Zenden, Hyypia are the names I've heard.
Wasn't another coach let go today as well? Can't find a name but that's what I'm hearing... I'm praying it's Achterberg because our goalkeeping performances have be woeful since he's had the job!
