I'd sell them him and then rip his legs off right in fornt of them. send in the hulk... or the arrow or whoever. as long as the money is paid upfront and he gets his.
£150K is not bad.. need to remember we're not paying a fee for him, so that alone has saved us £15-20M! Yes, he's most likely got a decent signing on fee but is that not factored into his weekly wage as well? So, he maybe taking home £150K a week but the real cost is a lot lower? Granted, he's not a world beater but in my books he's bloody decent.. Gives 100%, good engine, good technically and decent from set pieces too!
A midfield trio of Henderson-Milner-Can sounds like a very strong engine room. Could be a decent signing for ye's
None of them are a DM but Brod doesn't like a DM either. With that in consideration, that trio would be decent IMO. Especially with Coutinho free to do his thing in front of them.
Could go back to the Diamond? -------------- Ford ----------------- --- Hendo ---------- Milner------- ------------- Can ------------------ With Studge and A N Other strike ahead? Width to be supplied by the likes of Moreno and a decent RB?
I'd play Lucas leaving Can, hendo, Milner and Allen to fight it out for the two B2B roles (I'd go with Hendo and Milner)
Sadly (have a soft spot for Lucas) with Milner coming he's most likely going.. Joe will be a squad player me thinks..
That is what I was thinking yes. As I just said in my last comment, I'd prefer Lucas in there rather than Can but that isn't what Brod will do.
Can as a sweeper (base of diamond) would be my preferred option, no more playing him at RB and he's wasted in defence! Good on the ball, can get the moves started and being based there, he wouldn't need to put in as much of a shift as the likes of Hendo and Milner, not saying he's Lazy, but he doesn't appear to be has mobile as them!
I think if an offer comes in for Lucas he might be off. I think people like him as he's out only real defensive mid, but he's not been hitting top form and nearly 30, bad injury recently and high earner as well. Allen will stay and provide a good option in games where need to slow the game and keep the ball
Only thing with him as DM is that he likes to bring the ball forward.... If he does that we need to be disciplined that someone else will sit in for him
Indeed he did so lets look at the facts, he's in his prime, is the only DM we have, loves the club, great at breaking up the play and is a good passer of the ball, he's aggressive and decent in a tackle. There are of course downsides to his game but nobody is perfect, injury is a worry. I'd have him as captain though.
Then we'll lack quality on the ball and drive. I suppose Milner could provide that we haven't seen him play that role consistently in over 5 years. Real workman like midfield - no spark or quality though. And a proper DM is imperative else you'll have Hendo/Milner/Can spending too much time staying back to protect the defence.
