I havent seen this linked anywhere but found it interesting and jaw droppping to consider. Table ranks all the premier league striker signings of last season on a cost per goal basis. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...b-s-striker-signings-provide-value-money.html It's is absolutely mind boggling to think that even a mid level player like Graziano is costing the game almost a million pounds for every goal but compared to the top half thats small potatoes. For some reason, having it in those terms seemed to bring some reality to the numbers and how ridiculous they are. Amazing to see Rickie at 3.1 million per goal (Jesus wept) actually placed higher than Shane Long at 2.9 mill per goal. I guess without game time you wont see much return on any player (meaning lambert). Of course, 20m for 1 goal has to top the table. What a season Liverpool have had.
You have to remember that each place up the table is worth over a million (don't know actual figure, but sure someone will ), so goals have real value. Quite pleased with Graziano's contribution in his first season and Shane's is very good when you consider that he played fewer games than GP (who played in every game). Also extremely pleased with the cost of Balotelli's goals (sorry, goal).
I'd be even more surprised if the figures are all accurate. 15k p/w for Sakho? If so, Big Sam pulled out a rabbit with that one.
Weird. Just put him in the name game. He cost 3.5 mill I think, and probs half a million each year on wages. He got one goal, so about 5 million per goal.
Yeah the wages was a bit of an eye opener at first but I now doubt the accuracy of some of those figures. RL's numbers didn't add up for me but who knows maybe he moved for reasons other than money. Could Falcao seriously be earning twice as much as the next highest paid striker? Hang on. Let me re-phrase that. TWOHUNERDNEIGHTYTHOUSANDPOUNDSAWEEK????!!! Is that the personal benefit of being on loan? Why would you ever want to be on contract?
Dani Osvaldo doesnt make that list of course because he was last years flop but for perspective, I guesstimate he would be number two in that table. Yeesh. Probably the closest he will get to the top of the table. Unless its 'number of abandoned children' or 'assaults on own teamates'. Those tables he would top.
Attacking midfielder/winger is our Sadio. It has been said that he should be an out-n-out striker, but I think he offers much in creativity. I like him as he is, running past the striker.
Neither are Kane, Aguero or Costa on the list - presumably they've done quite well so wouldn't have merited the "how much?!!" response the article writer was looking for...
Costa's in there. Midtable at two million pounds per goal. Seems to be good value for 20 goals though.
