I dont give a **** if England get it or not tbh.
Have very little interest in International football, only really watch the WC tournament proper (cant remember the last time I watched England play outside of a WC or Euro tournament, dont even watch the qualifiers).
I have always known that World cup hosting privileges are handed out this way, it is who has the biggest brown envelope, and has been that way since FIFAs inception.
But you have to play it sensibly.....did they really not think that as soon as Qatar was announced people would be like....

The weather makes it impossible to host the damned tournament out there. If I were FIFA i'd have been like
"okay, we can take the £75 million England are offering and host the tournament there, pacifying Europe and UEFA who have been openly hostile towards us in recent times, and we can throw them a bone OR we can take the £120 million the Qatari government are offering, and host the tournament in 120 degree heat, forcing ALL European leagues to reschedule their seasons, and hope the Qatari's can knock together a dozen world class stadiums on time, with as few deaths as possible........"

"But Sepp, we cannot possibly chose Qatar, it would be far too blatant that we are choosing them for monetary gain, and not through any merit or quality of the facilities they have on offer. Besides we are all millionaires anyway, whats an extra £2m each split between us going to do?"

Blatter: "**** it, I want a third swimming pool in my Monaco mansion....QATAR!"

They are probably creating a new Island there just for Blatter <laugh> Blatterland (tm)

Ah well, they've got him to quit, blatter late than never I say<whistle>

What are you talking about Bondaki?
Everytime these world cups are up for nominations and everyone goes crazy and David Beckham and Prince William go to a summit and blah blah and everyone gets all excited etc...I couldnt give two ****s where the world cup is held, as long as its in country in which a World cup is possible....is what I mean.
Like I said, Qatar was a slap in the face too far. And caused the downfall of FIFAs current crop of corrupt bell ends, because it was too audacious.
They should have picked literally anyone else <laugh>

Only £10m? That's quite cheap, Qatar not South Africa after all, the mints left on their pillows in Qatari hotels were probably worth 10m <laugh>

Stepp Batter being stubborn, proud and arrogant failed to leave the stage at the right time. Who cares whether he is humiliated or not?.
exactly,
If people are genuinely shocked about all this corruption and are trying to make out that the big bad FBI and US government are after FIFA cos they were spurned then fair enough, its quite possibly true.
But its like asking me to feel sympathy for a child molester because he has been a victim of police brutality.

He's only acted as he knows the FBI have got him banged to rights and he didn't want the ignominy of being arrested while still holding the Presidency.

The letter that nails Warner also nails him and he knows it.

The only sensible thing he said during his entire tenure.

"Let the women play in more feminine clothes like they do in volleyball. They could, for example, have tighter shorts,"

David Cameron supported Blatter too. Does that mean England shouldn't be allowed to host a World Cup?

To me it just seems to be a case of the United States and England not getting what they want so its toys out of pram time. The English bidding team & most of the country were prepared to brush corruption under the carpet when they though they were winning the hosting rights for the world cup. So were the United States.

And to be fair to Russia, I'm sure a lot more countries would stand up politically to the US-UK-EU circle jerk if they had Russia's military strength.

I know they have a terrible record when it comes to discrimination but look at how the dailymail and a lot of this country treats foreigners, tell me we are any better than them really. We can sneer at them from far and think we are better but 4 million people here voted UKIP, that was basically 4 million people voting against foreigners. How can we look down at others and claim to be a forward thinking modern country when the polls clearly show otherwise.

I agree entirely. It's also interesting that in all the finger pointing at Russia, Qatar, South Africa and FIFA over recent weeks nobody has ever asked exactly what it cost to bring the Olympics to London. I'm sure there were no inducements whatsoever...

If the FBI didn't have enough info to get Blatter, they will have now. At least one of the seven they arrested will have made a deal and squealed!

Yeah, absolutely, and that letter yesterday nailed Warner, and there's no way Warner will go down without taking Blatter with him

Why are people trying to turn this into an Anti-England thing? (I take it most of you are Irish, Scottish or Welsh).
I am about as unpatriotic as they come. Couldn't give a **** whether we are a kingdom or a Republic, don't follow or support the England football team....but I don't see why probably THE most corrupt sports organisation on the planet, finally being held accountable for all its years of utter corruption, which was spiralling out of control to the point where Countries like Qatar were being awarded World Cups, is a reason for people to turn it around and start going on at the US or the UK for being hypocritical. Well duh.....At this level of all sporting organisations, where billions of pounds are involved, some levels of corruption are tolerated and even expected.

I have had no illusions about FIFA since I was a kid, that the bidding process is as bent as a 9 bob note and all about back handers.
Why FIFA is being held to rights NOW and not at any other time, is because it got TOO corrupt. Awarding the World Cup to Qatar was a ****ing spectacularly ******ed move by those corrupt, greedy ****ers. And it was a step too far.
Its not a case of "aha, you are corrupt, now we know that, we will bring you to justice"
Its more case of "Okay, okay guys, enough is enough, we know you have been bent for years, but this is taking it too far, and if you aint gonna resign quietly, then we are going to forcibly remove you".

I am not even sure these arrests would have happened at all if Blatter had decided not to stand again for presidency.

Being born here with Irish parents I've always considered myself to be British. I support the England team in any sport that I'm actually interested in.
My comment was really born from the fact that Dyke and a few others seem to me to still be sore over the award of the 2018 World Cup and it is that which is driving their whole attitude. As others have said, if we'd have won it they may well have keppt schtum. We've been happy enough to play along in other similar bidding processes. I don't like the way FIFA operate but, equally, I would prefer the FA to be a little less self righteous about it all.

Don't think it would have made any difference if the English FA had kept schtum Dan, even if England would have got the 2018 world cup, it is the yanks policy on corporation fraud going through their banking system years before the England bid that started their investigation.

Their own FIfa rep got caught with his fingers in the till and the whole deck of cards started falling from then on.

This<ok>

All FIFA awards of WCs have been dodgy as ****. It's a huge payday for all sorts when these bids start going round.

Of course.
As I have said many times.
Corruption of this kind, at this level, is unavoidable the men at the top don't get there by being squeaky clean.
People need to have a realistic outlook on this kinda stuff.
Until this last batch of nominations for hosting people were prepared to play the game, but Qatar?

Such blatant flaunting of their corruption, with no other reasonable excuse for them winning the vote.
They have no football history, cannot host an outdoor sports event during the summer months due to the weather, have no "soccer" infrastructure, the facilities are non-existent, they have inadequate building policies and health and safety procedures set in place to oversee construction and maintenance of the required stadiums safely, and quite frankly.....Who the **** had even heard of Qatar before they were awarded the World Cup?
Just some oil rich desert town in the middle of **** knows where.

That plus Russia getting awarded 2018, when the rest of the world has huge beef with them in recent months.
Just too much......untenable that Blatter could stay in charge.
