He will be at RM until Xmas then after being sacked will return to Liverpool to kill them a second time <ok>

  2. Real get the best managers out there and then sack them in 2 to 3 seasons, so it's little wonder that they're scraping the barrel at Benitez. He was a clown at 'Pool and he'll be a clown at Real.

If Real carry on the way they've been going, there going to have to "do a Chelsea" and start re-hiring managers they sacked in the past!

It could be worse HIAG, at least they get the best managers. Imagine they were hiring any over-inflated, flavour of the month, and sacking them every season <whistle>

  4. Yes, Treble, that would be dreadful.

Talking about failing, he's just taken Napoli out of CL despite good budget in weak Serie A, bottling a home game

  8. I'd love for Benitez to return to 'Pool. Remember what happened the last time the Mousers got their wish, when "king" Kenny returned to the club? Well within a season, 'Pool became the biggest laughingstock in football since the last time they were the biggest laughingstock in football (ironically, under Benitez, just before he got sacked).

Mousers have a dreadful habit of letting their hearts rule their heads, which is the reason they always cry at the stupid song every time Max Boyce sings it. The silly ****ers! Benitez back at Klanfield would be the best thing to happen for us neutrals, since the days when he was last there. The prospect of seeing his red blotchy face in the post-match interviews, being ridden hard by some piss-taking interviewer after yet another abysmal defeat, is the kind of pure-gold comedy that ought not to be dismissed too lightly.

The Fat Man has done well to get a three year deal. Three years wages for less than 12 months work.

Although he's no Moyes or AVB when it comes to negotiating contracts!

Really odd appointment. Rafa is essentially a cup manager and his mandate will be to try and wrestle the title from another great Barca team. Not going to happen. Plus Rafa's teams are dull to watch, how long with the Real faithful accept that?

Ancelotti was doing a very decent job and won them the E.C 12 months ago. He's had a lot of key injuries this year and would have had Real challenging again for sure.

How a manager that not long ago was being linked with West Ham now has the biggest job in world football is beyond me. Maybe Real genuinely have run out of managers to sack.

  11. Well, the good news for us neutrals is that Rodgers is to remain in charge of 'Pool.

merely stating the facts does not make me a "rafa lover". I have criticisms of Rafa also, but they are not related to his managerial record which we are discussing.

You refer to four years at Liverpool without a trophy, that's silly, it's like saying Simeone did not win trophies in x years with Atletico, because like Atletico Liverpool had United and Chelsea in their league like Atletico had real and barca. So it is not as simple as just saying ah well for these yars"

He had two CL finals with Liverpool, and had an average finishing spot of 4th over his whole time managing Liverpool.
In 7 months at Chelsea he secured CL and won silverwear. You tried to say that was not down to Rafa, which tbh is a pathetic argument, "player power". I get wum, but we are not talking wum, it was cack, your usual cack. You know nothing about football tactics and such, we know that, it is not up for question, you are about wum and gloating, not actual football and its technicalities.

Rafa has a pretty good record, League success, European success, domestic cup success. He's only been in 4? or 5? European finals, how many has Jose been in? If memory serves me correctly Jose has been in 3 European finals, Inter and Porto? I could be wrong but is that right?

No one is saying Rafa is in the same bracked as Mourinho or Fergie or even Ancelotti but his record is pretty decent. Only an idiot, a complete idiot, or a wum would say he's a crap manager.

That probably is good news for rivals <laugh> I personally think his transfers are probably reason enough to sack him though at the moment there is no one available to replace him, if Klopp stated his willingness to take the job when he quit Dortmund, I think Brod would have been axed

Jose won the Uefa cup with Porto as well and has made countless semi finals of the C.L as well as his 2 wins with unfancied sides. Those champions league finals were great achievements but were 8 and 10 years ago now.

Without turning this into Rafa bashing or lording, don't you think the appointment is a bit odd though? For a team trying to win the league back from Barca, they appoint a guy who hasn't won the league with his last 4 clubs.

I think a lot of managers are relieved Klopp doesn't seem to have the appetite for another job at the moment. Pelligrini and Rafa being 2 others.

Semis don't count sorry mate and you know it. Just the same as Rafa coming second in the PL doesn't count.<ok> Rafa has as good a record in Europe as Jose really, 2 CL finals 2 EL finals winning 3 out of 4

First tell me these unfancied sides?

Tell me who is available other than benitez, remember he was with the club for years in the beginning too?

Klopp made it crystal clear he did not want a top of the league side, he wanted another project like Dortmund. Klopp doesn't want the Real job and the pressure than comes with it. He likes to build and Real don't want that, they want to throw fortunes around and have instant success

Porto and Inter might have been unfancied sides to us PL watching folk, I suggest you look at the Porto squad that won the CL, they were briliant. Inter again, the likes of Eto who was at his best at inter when Jose was there, Inter had a very good squad truth be told.

    Inter
    GK 12 Júlio César
    RB 13 Maicon
    CB 6 Lúcio
    CB 25 Walter Samuel
    LB 26 Cristian Chivu
    CM 4 Javier Zanetti (c)
    CM 19 Esteban Cambiasso
    AM 10 Wesley Sneijder
    RF 9 Samuel Eto'o
    CF 22 Diego Milito
    LF 27 Goran Pandev
    Substitutes:
    GK 1 Francesco Toldo
    DF 2 Iván Córdoba
    DF 23 Marco Materazzi
    MF 5 Dejan Stanković
    MF 11 Sulley Muntari
    MF 17 McDonald Mariga
    FW 45 Mario Balotelli

Porto's side looks great on hindsight because some of them got snatched up by the bigger and richer clubs in the following couple of year ala Atletico last season. But no-one would have predicted a C.L win for that side and no team outside the big leagues has come close since.

Ditto Inter had a good side but had struggled to impact the C.L league under Manchini and likewise have continued this post Jose. Jose went in, lost his best player and still took them to the treble. An amazing achievement.

Just check the pre tournament odds to see how fancied these sides were.

Rafa does have a good record in Europe, but a poor one domestically, especially post Valencia which was 13-14 years ago. Real want to win the league back and won't with Rafa IMO despite having the most expensive team ever assembled.
