Well that's another shock because I never expected him to go at all. I was busy chuckling this morning when I heard the latest on the radio. The £10m bung had nothing to do with the second in command it was all down to the bloke who died conveniently last year. Age old excuse of blame the corpse who can't say anything now. Still, he's going so mustn't complain. Every little thing will now be alright.....

The driver of the car was a learner apparently: at least he/she has got the big one out of the way early. The car is a write off but thankfully the British Army's single remaining working tank was undamaged.

Interesting news this morning: Chuck Blazer's statements to the FBI apparently confirm that he and other FIFA executives agreed between themselves to a regime of bribes in relation to the World Cup in South Africa. I heard a member of the South African government on the radio in the car yesterday: apparently this is all a colonialist plot by the UK and USA. Peculiar of course as the US was once a colony...... wasn't there are War of Independence (1775-1783) or something or are we re-writing world history to suit FIFA now?

These people always like to have somebody else to blame and the West is always a good start. Being born with sticky fingers is not a fault even if some of these countries only run on bribes and always have. They don;t appear to know anything different. You wait though, once the **** hits the fan then the birds will chirp like f*** to try to save themselves. And boy will there be a lot of them.

Would you believe even the Brazil WC is now being questioned. I mean how shocking a South American country might be involved in corruption. Talk of looking at the 2018 and 22 WC's. It ain't going to change so no point is there. It won't change the fact Argyle got left in the brown stuff and almost disappeared because of it or take us back to the Championship.

I think every genuine country that put in their world cup bids should sue the crap out of fifa. According to reports England spent over 21 million on the world cup bid only to find out now that we never had a cat in hells chance of winning.

Because we went tits up financially, and it was pretty much all to do with the WC bid and expectation of it coming here, a lot of small ordinary folk went without payment for goods and services rendered. It is them more than the club that I feel sorry for. They must look at this along with all the staff who didn't get paid for so long and wish to get Mr B and his buddies in a locked room for an hour. Mind you Blatter is so slippery he could probably limbo dance out under the door. It may however be a bit difficult to find a genuine country at all to take the lead. I doubt any of them, including our's was squeaky. It's just some were a bit more squeaky than the winners.

Of course, just to add insult to injury, it's possible that if corruption is shown to have played a part in Russia being awarded the 2018 World Cup, which as others have pointed out was positively encouraged by Fifa in bidding the 2018 and 2012 finals at the same time, it's quite possible the UK will step in to host it. The UK 2018 was the one most highly rated by the assessors at the time but Fifa gave it instead to Russia, which was marked down on the grounds of human rights, possible terrorism, lack of transport infrastructure to support a tournament in such a huge country etc.

So the World Cup Argyle could have been part of and which [perhaps] contributed to the club's financial implosion, may now come back to the UK when it's too late and only the likes of Old Trafford, the Emirates, Anfield and St James Park can now benefit.

Can't see it changing now notdistant despite the newspaper headlines. Think we are going to be stuck with Russia and Qatar whatever happens now. Corruption and bribery are part of the culture in a lot of countries and I suspect a lot of the World will wonder what's up with any of this. In the Middle east there won't be any shock and anyone who has ever known that area would expect it as it's always been thus.

I did say IF it's shown there was corruption Sensible......

You may well be right it'll all just be written off to Blatter's stinking legacy but on the other hand, there are a few Western countries who'd like to poke Putin in the eye in a way unlikely to lead to nuclear war and the Qatar tournament is just so awful in a thousand ways, including gross disruption to the world's major football leagues, that anything's possible.

The trouble is it's hard to see how the corrupt football authorities in Africa, Asia and the Carribean WON'T continue to vote for the gravy train they are on. Also, with it now looking possible that the World Cup in France and the Thierry Henri handball incident are tainted, who's to know what else might come out?. As someone said, if you are playing a grossly crooked game, even those whose intentions are good tend to get sucked into things they wouldn't necessarily entertain. Which other nations might yet get muck thrown at them, even if it's relatively minor compared to the real skullduggery?

Other than the Russian linesman? I think he officiated at several games at Home Park last season.

A big difference between the Russian linesman and the ones at Home Park last season is the Russian one actually saw something and flagged. I'm not sure any at Home Park made any decision at any time.

To be fair I actually think "lavish hospitality" is handed out whoever the host countries are. I think this applies to the Olympics just as much as WC football. I'm not so sure the hosts ever make any money out of these tournaments. It's more about the prestige and showing the World how great they can be. With Putin it's the kudos of being a big player. With the Arab countries it's probably about the same. I doubt Arab countries would be very impressed if the WC was taken away now.

To quote directly from the BBC:

"Fifa communications director Walter De Gregorio has been sacked after sealing his fate with a joke about the governing body on Swiss TV.

Gregorio told Swiss chat show Schawinski: "The Fifa president, secretary general and communications director are all travelling in a car. Who's driving? The police."

Even more funny is the latest news that Blatter might stand for election next time once more. You gotta hand it to the guy, he's nothing if not persistent. How confident is he the Feds won't find any of the evidence to do him. I think he's been using that particle accelerator thingy to shred his stuff.
