Are you luckier than Jen or PL or is it that you just don't focus on the negative and do on the positive.

I'd say that equates to the same thing. If he does number two he becomes number one.

Just!! I did ask the Director of the company I visited if she knew Marian Pahars but she didn't. Neither did the young lady who fetched my supper tonight.

Bizarrely this was a trip where I've hardly encountered any men.

It's a very good question. In the past I might just have though it was attitude but it seems to me these days that thinking things will work out well affects everything you do and makes you luckier in reality, not just perception.

Example from this very morning. Went out with a franchisee. A customer phoned last night to ask why it was so long since her last visit. We said, "not overdue and, as it happens, we're with you tomorrow". Franchisee said to me that she would be thoroughly hacked off when we saw her today. I said she'd be happy to see us and probably a bit apologetic about her mistake. The thing is, the important thing is, these are self-fulfilling prophecies. I spoke to her, we had a laugh about her impending senility and she made us a cup of tea. If our guy had gone in expecting trouble, he could well have found it.

This chap is "unlucky". Could his attitude make him so? Perhaps.

    He's coming to the talk...

Napoleon , when told the virtues of a new General, eg. the man's heroism, bravery, skill in battle and so on - waved his hand impatiently. "That's all very well," he said, "but is he lucky?"

Why do you continue doing the same thing time after time and still get the same result? I thought after the amount of good, solid, simple advise you have received here, that maybe riddles may have a better chance of getting through.

Actually, this is the first time I've approached a mutual friend so in that regard it's hardly the same thing.

It's the same thing when you don't have the balls to ask her the question yourself.
