They have mistaken us for a little club. We don't need to sell (though of course recognise that there is only 1 year left on his contract) and we never sell cheap (as Morgan pointed out recently). And we mustn't forget we are trying to build up the squad for the increased number of matches next season. Realistically, between 15-20 million....I would say over 20 million, but that would depend on us being willing for his contract to run down. Our negotiating team is tough, but not foolish, especially if we have targets in mind.
I disagree with some on here, I personally feel that £15m will be enough to get Clyne, as much as I rate him, If I was a Liverpool fan I wouldn't want to pay more than that for him with only a year left. I'd rather lose him for £15m than nothing next year. RB isn't exactly the most irreplaceable position.
FFS Luv! You should know by now that's not how this works, we mug your lot off with our players, not vice versa! Your job is to tell us how little and irrelevant we are and how our players deserve their move to a big club
Also, bearing in mind we have seen the best of Clyne in the first half of the season and then since Xmas he has been very disappointing especially going forward. So replacing him isn't a major catastrophe like replacing Snidders will be
Surprise, but I'd take Johnson. He was once a very good player. Its not his fault he's had to play in a second-rate defence at Liverpool. Put him in a well organised defence along with top defensive midfielders (that would be Southampton by the way!) and he'd do a decent job. He was always good going forward.
But isn't he supposed to be on around £120,000 per week, that is about twice what we pay our best players and at least THREE times what I'd pay Johnson.
It says it all when Pool are willing to release a player that should be entering the best 2 years of his career. Old enough to be very experienced yet still have the legs for the modern game
You're not on about Johnson are you? He's been ****e for the past 2 season, is 30 and is on £100k+ a week! I'd take the piss more if they resigned him.
All I know is that Lovren was a good player when he left here. Look what playing for Liverpool has done to him. We could possibly do the reverse with Johnson.
TBH...it isn't our money. I would be happy to keep him for another year...now if I personally faced losing £100, I'd agree with you.
I'd be tempted to personally lose £100 if it meant sticking two fingers up to Liverpool. In fact, Nat name your charity!!!!
