I admit that the news of Charles Kennedy's demise surprised me in some ways but not in others. He was a principled politician but his battle against alcoholism terminated his career prematurely. Westminster was the poorer when he lost his seat at the general election. Now the country is the poorer.
A shocker - Champagne Charlie or chat-show Charlie he may have been, and I didn't agree with many of his policies, but he always had valid points to make and believed in what he stood for. A real loss to the political and public life of the country.
Came across as a very decent man. RIP A very good obit. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...d-shared-enemy-alcohol-Alastair-Campbell.html
Seems he may have topped himself. Motive: Depression - recent loss of his father and then his parliamentary seat.
RIP. He always seemed one of the good ones, and his flaws made him more human. I hope it wasn't suicide, that would be truly sad.
Well for the most part its just manners , y'know showing respect . I think we mean it , . . .when in the moment , for next month we will all have moved on apart from friends n family
