After taking four wickets we seem to have got stuck, don't look like taking a wicket at the moment.

Great morning for NZ taking 5 wickets for not a lot of runs....England now clinging on for the draw and praying for rain.

I suppose on balance a drawn series would be appropriate as NZ have played well and always looked to attack.....

It's been a good if all too short series....

Not boding well for the Ashes this. While the Kiwi's are an aggressive and competent side, their pace bowlers are only bowling in the low 80's.Apart from Cook and Root,we've really struggled against them.Considering that Stark and Johnson are going to be bowling in the 90's with inswinging Yorkers and plenty of chin music,i am a little fearful that be might be blown away later in the summer!

I am about to go into a work meeting with an Aussie colleague who has already been sledging by text. I fear carnage in the Ashes.

It's up to us to prepare pitches that suit our game, if we give them belters we'll be annihilated, slow pitches will even things up a bit and neither side has a world class spinner. We'll really miss Swann...

It seems that if we don't take wickets with the new ball we lose our way.

As I said in Leicester mate, betting on the Aussies to retain the Ashes is like buying money.

What are the odds? Even if pathetic they will beat an ISA.

Good news is my Aussie colleague was seen off with a work based sledging from me.

    Nice one.

They are currently 4/9 to retain The Ashes. They were 4/6 just after the WIndies test series. The Ashes start on the 8th July and end on the 24th August. That means that at the current odds you would get a 44.444% return on your investment, but if you backed them at 4/6 you would get a 66.6 ROI. Even if you back them a day before the series started, I doubt that any bank or savings account ( Santander is currently 3% pa, the best rate ) would give you a better return for an effortless maximum six weeks work.

I'd really like to see Rashid given a chance,he's a proper spinner and could make the difference on a turning wicket. He's been selected in the one-day squad, just hope he takes a hat-full of wickets and gets a chance in the Ashes!

How's Tuffers doing? Has he thrown the ball on those three sticky uppy things yet? Does everyone then wait five minutes for him to do it again? <confused>
