Genuine question for Arsenal fans- do you consider this to have been a successful season overall?

  2. Genuine question for Gooners...

Do you really think that Arsenal is anywhere near Chelsea, at the moment?

You're hijacking my genuine question ungenuinely!

    Sorry. Watford!

I didn't intend to, honest! As you know, I've hung up my wum-guns, so I'm trying desperately to avoid any piss-taking.

Niall Quinn thinks they are miles behind.

I'm not so sure. I know they are miles behind off the field, commercial revenue for example.

FFP was all too brief for my liking.

Chelsea FC the only true Prem champs that operated under full FFP

I'd be surprised if they get within six points of the league winners next season.

I don't see why they can't improve ne next season from 75 to say 80 points. Whether they can discover that winning mentality that makes them win big games under pressure when they have injuries etc remains to be seen.

I am hoping Chelsea up the bar next season with a couple of judicious signings and we can get closer to 90 points. Do Arsenal have the relentless winning mentality to get that many points?

A more pertinent question is why is HIAG waving his pom poms for the Chavs ?

Has he finally given up on Spurs now that his North London power shift thread has come back to haunt him ?

    (HIAG the closet Chav)

You've always got to be happy winning a major trophy, but ultimately Arsenal's success will be measured by winning the league or champions league. I don't think we're that far off and had we not started this season with so many injuries (Wenger was culpable for not signing a CB last summer) then we would have offered the Chavs a much better challenge.

But I think we still need to sign a proper DM, a consistent keeper and a ruthless striker. If we can add one or more of those this summer, then I think we'll challenge for the title next season. Arsenal's problem hasn't been their quality, it's been their consistency. Injuries and lack of cover in the squad have cost us. When you look at the Chavs, they always have just as good quality to replace anybody who is out injured and that makes the difference (To be fair they have spent almost £1bn on the squad since the rubles started flowing, so they should have good depth)

Shows how little you know about football. Depth has been our weakness this season: too dependent on first XI.

Jose has said in several interviews he needs to address squad depth but first XI is good.

Your problem is not lack of depth: it is winning big games under pressure.

Look at our record v big 4 compared to yours over the past two seasons.

That boils down to the manager not rubles. You can't buy team spirit

If £1bn can't buy you depth then you've pissed that money up the wall.

    A lot of it yes.

But we have a top manager who can win titles on net spends at Inter, Porto and now Chelsea. :)

Maureen is a qualiy manager no doubt, but it helped him no end that Roman had already pumped Chelsea full of Steroids.

  15. United will be Chelsea's main rivals next season, followed by £ity, with Arsenal pulling up a very poor third-rival.

Professional pundits seem to think that only Arsenal will improve over the Summer! <doh> Like neither United nor £ity have worked that one out!

We'll be Arsenal's main rivals next season, as we have been for most seasons in recent memory.

Judging by the turnout at their damp Third Place Trophy parade. No! Arsebus.jpg

    <laugh> you muppet

That's a picture of the team leaving the stadium before the parade.

There were 210,000 Gooners who turned out to celebrate. You chavs didn't even have the bad weather as an excuse.

  19. CFC, the sad thing for PISKIE and his followers, is that Arsenal's season is all too easy to predict. Here, I'll have a go...

Prediction 1: get dumped out of the CL before the quarter finals in humiliating fashion

Prediction 2: lose to United and Chelsea in the Prem

Prediction 3: Wenger to be verbally abused and made to look like a twat by Mourhino

Prediction 4: struggle all season to maintain an ever-shortening grip of superiority over Spurs and 'Pool, in a desperate plea to finish in the top 4 (and save Wenger's job)

These are so much predictions, as nailed on certainties, which is the reason why PISKIE never makes any.
