I think the star spangled banner is good. It's better than a lot of them probably because it started out as a poem about a pivotal moment in U.S. History rather than being written to be an anthem. I like the ussr one the most as the Russian language comes across in a powerful way that really works with the anthem.

We must have done a fair amount of damage because President Madison moved out and never lived there again and it was three years after the fire before the next president moved in.
Yea most of the inside was burned up I think. The structure was still standing. I think there were other things going on to that delayed going back there. DC wasn't our only capital after all.

FIFA Statement on the South African Diaspora Legacy Programme Following claims made by the US authorities in relation to a USD 10m payment made by FIFA on behalf of the South African Football Association FIFA comments as follows: In 2007, as part of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, the South African Government approved a USD 10m project to support the African diaspora in Caribbean countries as part of the World Cup legacy. At the request of the South African Government, and in agreement with the South African Football Association (SAFA), FIFA was asked to process the project’s funding by withholding USD 10m from the Local Organising Committee’s (LOC) operational budget and using that to finance the Diaspora Legacy Programme. SAFA instructed FIFA that the Diaspora Legacy Programme should be administered and implemented directly by the President of CONCACAF who at that time was Deputy Chairman of the Finance Committee and who should act as the fiduciary of the Diaspora Legacy Programme Fund of USD 10m. The payments totalling USD 10m were authorised by the then chairman of the Finance Committee and executed in accordance with the Organisation Regulations of FIFA. FIFA did not incur any costs as a result of South Africa’s request because the funds belonged to the LOC. Both the LOC and SAFA adhered to the necessary formalities for the budgetary amendment. Well there'll be a paper trail for this £10m so let's wait to see where the funds ended up. If this was a genuine gesture by SAFA then why did they not make it public?. Well we all know the answer to that one....
FIFA have just called an immediate press conference, Blatter to preside, probably to announce Valcke has been sacked. This turns into a bigger farce by the day.
Maybe, as you say, the press conference is to announce his sacking but then why have FIFA already issued a statement playing down the significance of the South Africa letter?
