I really hope that UEFA grow some balls and agree to a boycott of the World Cup. We know that at least 7 European countries will vote with FIFA, but they are in the main Russia and her local satellites, but rumours that France voted for Blatter is criminal.

53 Euro countries minus 7 = 46 and there were at least another 30 countries outside of Europe who voted against Blatter, so in theory the World Cup would need cancelling, as it couldn't survive without the huge TV revenues from here and Europe, and that would also force the big sponsors to reduce their sponsorship money to FIFA as their products will be seen by a much smaller audience.

I don't care if we are not in the next World Cup because I believe we either need to form a new breakaway organisation or sort out the present organisation. I suppose there will be many who disagree and want to play in the WC even in the present circumstances

I believe FIFA is now untouchable as it is now constructed. Irrespective of what happens to Blatter, whoever takes over would be supported by the same 130 plus countries who gain from the current "system"

Blatter and co would simply put up the "heir apparent" to just be acclaimed as the new saviour of FIFA. Nothing would change.

The voting system is open to corruption and they will not vote to change it. The corporate bodies, Coca Cola, McD, Visa etc will not put their heads above the parapet for fear of losing big bucks around the world in areas who vote for FIFA to continue as it now runs.

    ======================================================
    My humble suggestion......

A new order World Football Association (WFA) would need to be created with completely new structures which would support the promotion and governance of the game in ALL countries under a very strict financial regime. How or who votes in what magnitude would be a great problem before it even got off the ground.
The award of running the actual World Cup would be organised by this body on a controlled rota dependent on laid down criteria of the WFA. This would mean that all the areas of the world would be able to be certain of the WC coming to their region on a 4, 5 or 6 WC cycle. Each region could then organise their own form of "corruption" for the WC to take place. They would not have any say in any of the other regions.

This of course will not happen.

So football fans things will not change and the only thing fans can do is to continue what they do now. Support their team and the products providing the cash for corruption to continue.

Comments are all spot on. Unfortunately money corrupts sport. Has done with boxing, formula 1, snooker etc so no surprise there are backhanders flying about within fifa. Colossal sums involved. Hopefully some of these guys spend a long stretch behind bars and it may serve as a warning

The Question now must be asked who is: FIFA questionable to?
: Who holds FIFA to account?

And I suspect the answer is nobody and Dave you're right they have become untouchable. This **** has been going on for years and we know it has but it has taken the American Justice System trying to bring down the Russian Government for this to 'come in to the light of day'

I don't think UEFA will pull out of FIFA and I don't think any of the Home Nations will pull out of UEFA. We need to be in there to play other big Footballing Countries. I can imagine that if England pulled out of FIFA and UEFA we would get barred from playing countries like Brazil and France. We would be boycotted. Then if we weren't in UEFA there is no Europa League or Champs League and we'd loose the likes of Rooney, Cesc and others who play in the Prem because of our 'standing' in Uefa.

If a WFA was formed what would stop it from doing the exact same thing that FIFA has become.

What football needs is an organisation to look at and hold FIFA to account as well the I.O.C and other Governing bodies in sport

" If a WFA was formed what would stop it from doing the exact same thing that FIFA has become "

That is why I suggested that " The award of running the actual World Cup would be organised by this body on a controlled rota dependent on laid down criteria of the WFA. This would limit the opportunity for the current "corrupt" regions having a say in ALL decisions that know take place under present system.
It would be interesting to see what the regions would comprise of... Europe being one. The Americas N, S and Carribean., Africa/Arabia.
and Pacific. some areas would object of course.
That would keep it at 4 regions with a WC every 16 years awarded. They could then **** about to their own content BUT NOT in the other regions.
As for President... that would be also on a 4 year rota.. with the next WC region having the president for JUST 4 years but accountable to the other regions for major financial decisions.

Its all a pipe dream this lot. Its going to be "as you were.. stand at ease !!"

I like the idea you propose but I'm going to make one amendment and that is to keep the five authority system we already have...
    Europe
    Asia
    Oceania
    North America and Central America
    South America
    Africa

If you start splinting already established Football Authorities to work on a 16 year rota then I think it might start causing some hassle. However I would make sure the likes of Israel and Azerbaijan stayed with in the Asian Block and couldn't drift in to the European block and vice versa like Australia being a part of Asia.

Yes fine, is that all the Americas in one block ? It would mean a 20 year cycle under my idea... objections all round as you say .... hassle.

    As you were then. <hug>[

Couldn't agree more Doc, as I said last week that FIFA have been corrupt for years and that they're just a self regulating, shower of **** being run by an English hating dictatorial ****!

Splatter needs to go but he won't while he's being supported by others with their noses in the troughs, therein is the problem though with the others who voted for him to keep the status quo intact! <doh>

If he goes to Canada for the munter World Cup and if there is even a scintilla of evidence against him the yanks will move to have him arrested and extradited. I expect him to cry off making the Canadian trip.

    Morning Norman. <ok>

The spiel he spouted before the vote was typical. I took it as code for, I don't give a **** about anyone else or the organisation as long as there's no evidence against me. <doh>

He's typical of someone whose time is up, has become complacent and has an ego the size of the planet that they think FIFA can't go on or exist without him.

The look Platini gave Splatter as he passed him by tells a story in itself - daggers too say the least! <ok>

    PSD,

your idea isn't so far fetched and would certainly even things up for every country for the WC.

The way some countries are calling for Uefa to pull away from FIFA cos of Blatter could see your idea become fruition. Sponsors are also getting in on the act by calling for changes now, Visa said it would reassess it's sponsorship if changes don't come about, so your idea isn't a daft one PSD, there's a possibility it could eventually happen.

    In general,

Don't be surprised if someone drops Blatter in it.

PSD it looks like you are going to have to create a new organisation, but just make sure Splatter can't log on.
