So our win in the FA Cup again this year will mean we compete in the Community Shield for a second year running. Last time around we faced City, beating them 3-0. I personally think this will have helped the confidence and mentality of the players when we faced City later in the season. I also think it will have helped in developing a winning mentality amongst the squad. This time around I feel it could be a really important match for us. I like us to win any silverware we can and would be annoyed to lose the game anyway despite it often being seen as a glorified friendly. But more importantly than actually winning the minor trophy is the opportunity to beat Chelsea and Mourinho before the league campaign begins. A confident performance and win over Chelsea in the Community Shield to deny them the first bit of silverware for the season could have a far greater impact later on when we face Chelsea in the league. The belief it could create and the doubt in Chelsea minds could be very valuable in our bigger goals for the season. Bring on the Community Shield and a chance for our fourth bit of silverware in two years P.s. Wooooooooooo, FA Cup Winners 2014/15!!!
I think the starting lineup has to be cech, bellerin, hummels, kos, monreal, vidal, santi, ozil, Walcott, messi, sanchez After a good summer of course
It could just be that Magic Man has been drinking Toilet cleaner again, but I hope that Monreal stays. I know players like Sanchez and Santi have (deservedly) won all the plaudits this season, but Monreal has been very solid at the back for us and has pretty much made that LB spot his own ahead of Gibbs.
Firstly it was a joke, given the other players like Messi being in the line-up, but strong rumours he's going back to Spain. Think (sadly) he might be off.
I hope he stays. He's made that LB position his own and we can't rely on Gibbs staying injury free all season.
Let's hope they turn out to be bollocks, the last thing we need is another patch up job at the back going into a new season.
Monreal is going nowhere now. First choice LB at Arsenal, there was talk about him going to Athletic Bilbao, but those rumours are old and back then Monreal was not first choice, now I doubt he is going to leave to join a smaller club and probably get paid a lot less.
If it is about money then give him a pay rise as he and Coq and Bellerin have been our most improved players this season. We want to add quality to the squad and that starts with not selling any of our best/better players. We can say goodbye to Arteta and Dialby and Pod and Sonago as I don't see any of them getting any play time so let's free up their salaries to pay for quality
