Just something I have been thinking about today.
What is your favourite moment (on pitch) since the start of the Liebherr dynasty?
Personally, mine was little league one fat boy Rickie Lambert netting against Premiership Pompey and putting saints 1-0 up (end result not important.) <badger>.

So many, but the JPT Final actually takes some beating. Like yours, it was in the very early time of the stratospheric re-birth. I do go back to that match, and watch it again, occasionally. None of the players had egos and they were very much the original squad. Great stuff.

I know you are thinking of a Saints moment, but I loved SRL's goal against Scotland. Mainly for the sheer joy on Rickie's face, but also that a Saints player could score for England.

This for me, or the day out at Wembley.

I almost... ALMOST cried when he scored. That was back when rickie still had a soul :)

In that game, yep, he put us ahead in the Championship game at FP - that was a fine moment. :)

So many to choose from, but it would have to be beating Coventry 4-0 to clinch promotion back to the Prem. That was the best moment of the Adkins reign. Prior to that, Pards gave us the JPT, and post Adkins we've had Poch beating Citeh and Liverpool, and Koeman slaughtering Sunderland and Villa, not to mention beating Man U at OT. But the moment we knew we were back in the PL has to be the best of all.

It is tough to pick one moment.

    • The day at Wembley
    • The second leg against MK Dons to get to Wembley - I couldn't believe we were on our way to Wembley
    • The Coventry game to get back to the Premier league
    • Rickie's goal at Wembley with his first touch for England against Scotland for a non-Saints moment
All of those sent a tingle down my spine!

Unlike Osvaldorama I didn't almost shed a tear. I grizzled with sheer joy while shouting YESSSS.!
FLT will rightly tell you I can be a bit of a softie, and that got me right in my sentimental streak.
I have the Radio 5 commentary with John Murray and Danny Mills, from the point Rickie gets on until the finish. It's well worth an occasional listen because the atmosphere and joy is electric.

Yes, I originally thought this thread should be about Saints-only moments, but thinking about it, SRL 's England debut most certainly does deserve to be there. Our first signing in the Liebherr era, Rickie became the embodiment of what this club is all about. Rags to riches, fat boy to national hero, a fantastic footballer and a lovely bloke, Rickie got in the England team because of everything he did for us and with us.

Not necessarily my favourite, but unmentioned so far. There was something special about the night we beat Man City at St Marys, I remember thinking 'we've really made it back now' at the end of that one.

For pure footballing moments, I have to agree, these take some beating. Watching your team lifting a trophy at Wembley is the ultimate in football.

I have many off field favourite moments that to me just sums up supporting saints. The move through league 1 to the premier league and keeping all the qualities we had. The sense of unity, one big family, the structure of the club and what we are trying to achieve makes me so proud. Hats off the what les reed and the team have put in place, and that the academy is still flourishing. Just walking to the ground on matchdays, I love the atmosphere at a packed st Mary's. Another favourite moment is seeing Katharina at matches laughing and enjoying herself.

So many onfield and even more off field moments that it has a pleasure to be part off. I an sure there are many more to come. COYS

Markus's shy wave at his first match when everyone sung his name takes some beating. Like has been said about Katharina, Markus enjoyed owning a football club more than he thought. He was said to talk about little else towards the end of his life.

The whole of Wembley singing, "One Rickie Lambert, there's only one Rickie Lambert" ...

.... They might as well have been singing, "Southampton, Southampton," because that's what it meant!

Most of the on the pitch moments have already been mentioned, although the Everton match just before Xmas was very satisfying. We had lost 4 in a row in the league and just gone out of the League Cup to Sheffield Utd. We were missing a few regulars including Vic and Morgan and had a bench full of U21s. Everyone was saying that the bubble had burst and we couldn't mix it with the "Big Boys".
Well we totally outplayed Everton on the day and won 3-0 and went on a run of 8 games unbeaten, including wins against Man Utd and Arsenal and a draw against Chelsea.
My favourite off the field moment also occured this season. It was when Franny entered SMS at the end of his epic run for charity, I has a real lump in my throat when the fans acclaimed him and that was the moment that Saints regained its' soul and brought one of its' favourite sons back into the fold. The club is now in touch with the rich heritage that makes us such a special club, we shouldn't EVER shun our past heroes again.

All those for sure, plus for me, Millwall away in the Championship. Not the most glamorous of games, but we came back from 2-1 down with 10 mins to go to win 3-2 to earn 3 crucial points.

The away games in the promotion seasons that didn't officially give us promotion but they pushed us closer.
Brighton away, Leyton Orient away, Plymouth away, Leeds away, Peterborough away.
Party atmospheres at grounds we had previously struggled at and incredible performances from the team. I think we take for granted how big these games were and how important they were for the cause.

I didn't know you realise there was a goal. I half expected you to write:

    Fonte's shirt removal against Brighton.
