When Massimo Cellino took over Leeds United, we were all relieved to be rid of those horrible people from GFH, who had taken our club to the very brink of disaster. There can be no doubt that we needed new ownership, and at the time Cellino was the only person willing to step forward and put up the money. Therefore, a big tick for him. However, let’s be absolutely clear about one thing, this man is dangerous for Leeds United. His biggest problem is that he suffers from megalomania, and he doesn’t take advice or instruction very well. Anyone who has worked with this type of business owner will understand exactly what I’m saying. We have already witnessed his irrational “decision-making” and refusal to accept any responsibility for things going wrong. When he stormed into Leeds and instantly sacked Brian McDermott before he had actually finalised ownership, the warning signs flashed in front of us. Here was a man who had no problem behaving brazenly because it was in his own interests. Here was a man who clearly operates without respect for people. Here was a man who decided to fire off a bomb because it would get him attention, and show everyone that he was the law and he could do as he pleased. Pathetic!! Coming into a new club and sacking the manager without even having a replacement in mind. WARNING – MAD CLOWN AT LARGE!! Now here is my issue with Cellino, and I’m going to challenge people with this claim. I really don’t believe that he actually knows what he’s doing. I don’t think he is as clever as he makes out to be. Why do I say this? David Hockaday. I mean, seriously, how the fcuk could he actually believe that Hockaday was good enough to manage Leeds United, and allow him to bring Junior Fcuking Lewis along with him as well? How the fcuk could he actually "talk football" for FIVE hours with Hockaday and then call it "one of the most intelligent football conversations I've ever had"? What a joke!! No, what a disgrace!! Leeds United are supposed to be one of the big clubs in England, a global brand with a proud history, and what does Cellino do? He pisses all over our heritage. Imagine Everton, Spurs, Arsenal or Liverpool announcing David-Who as their new manager. You’d still be feeling the shock waves today, still be hearing the laughter. No, Cellino is not clued up at all. He is a rich fool who is playing silly games at a football club where he is way out of his depth. I despise the cretin for how he’s going about “running” our club, and I can’t wait to be shot of him forever. The hiring of Hockaday set us back so far that our season simply couldn’t recover. His interference in team selection and tactics says a lot as well. He is quick to take credit when the team wins – “I saw that the diamond was the right formation” – yet he distances himself when things go wrong – “we buy too many bad players from Italy, it is Salerno’s fault”. Another thing that genuinely upsets me is the fact that he has maintained odd bedfellows. Why has he not yet gotten rid of GFH? These are bad people, really bad people, yet they still have seats on our Board!! Why did he hire Andrew Umbers, the very person who brokered the Bates/GFH deal? It makes no sense at all. His transfer dealings have been questionable, look at Ngoyi and Cani as fine examples of how not to do a deal. His decision to lengthen Cook’s contract by just one season also smells, because come next Summer the kid will be gone for sure. Cellino also doesn’t hesitate to slaughter players or staff publicly, especially once they have left, or are about to leave. Regardless of what we think of Redders as a manager, humiliating him publicly was pathetic and uncalled for. Then there was Cellino’s outburst towards Salerno, someone he has known for a long time, calling “his signings” rubbish, bad for Leeds. Unbelievable!! Then there’s the claim that he “discovered” Charlie Taylor …. I can go on about his crazy behaviour, but I won’t, you know the rest. He’s already been banned by the FL, and his upcoming trial will probably see him getting a lengthy ban if convicted. Putting Adam Pearson in place is the best thing he’s done so far, and maybe finally he has taken advice on board. Rosler isn’t the worst appointment, but his success will depend on Cellino’s level of interference. I think Cellino expects to lose his battle with the Italian justice system, and he expects at least a season long ban from the FL, which is why Pearson has been brought in. It may well be a blessing in disguise for us if Cellino is found guilty in Italy. Bottom line … Cellino is not good for Leeds United, and I can only but imagine how outrageous he will be if we get to the Prem with him in charge. The man is a loose cannon, he doesn’t have a clue how to build sustainable success at a football club, and relies more on luck than judgement to get things right. He will constantly get in the way of progress, and pull us back just when it seems we are heading in the right direction. The sooner Cellino leaves Leeds United, the better. We genuinely don’t need someone like him “leading” our club.
My worry is that he has done everything right since the day after his idiotic interview and although I want to believe he has turned a new page my head ruling my heart tells me he hasn't changed and I am waiting for him to press the self destruct button.
The man's a ticking time bomb. Maybe, just maybe, with Pearson around he may rein in the endless histrionics and we can get back to worrying about the actual football, which is already bad enough without the circus show going on in the background. Pearson actually seems to know how to build a club's infrastructure in the right way so hopefully Cellino will take his advice and not throw his toys out of the pram when Pearson inevitably challenges him on a few issues.
If he doesnt sell, our best hope is the fl bans him for a couple of seasons and in the intervening period Pearson might engineer a promotion
Well head of recruitment has already been sacked after just 5 days, sick of how Cellino spits his dummy out so easily. WORSE than Bates in my opinion, I would actually have Bates back tomorrow over this clown.
Todays Breakfast debate, news has just been broken, we appointed a new head of recruitment 5 days ago and he has just been sacked for being on holiday
Steve Head, Norwich Chief Scout ... Cellino didn't want him to go on holiday ... and so it all starts again Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
sorry dont agree you say we buy bad players from italy what about mirco anderlucci the LEADING GOAL SCORER FOR LEEDS UTD 2014 -15 SEASON SORRY I THINK CELLINO DOES KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING !
Yeah some know better, play moro 2 goals all season! And please don't tell me he worked hard,we know that.
sniffer, you are an idiot!! I said nothing about buying bad players, I was quoting Cellino ... after saying his recruitment policy was to bring in a load of Italian players that would be good for Leeds, he then get's stuck into Salerno once he left by saying "we buy too many bad players" ... please read properly!!! Cellino is a cnut, he never takes responsibility when things go wrong, and stabs people in the back when they have left the club ... this fool needs to be gone from Leeds and quickly Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Cellino hasn't a fecking clue, if he brings in 20 new players the law of averages says he'll get maybe one or two ok players. I wish he'd run the club like a normal owner and leave the people who know what they are doing to scout for players.
Dont get me wrong if redbull came in tomorrow and bought leeds i would be glad as i think redbull is the only decent speculation there has been and would be better than cellino as they are a proper company but they have not come in to buy leeds , so the only deal we have at moment is cellino and if it means backing him up thats what has to be done , he is a good negotiater as he brought in anderlucci and i think if we sold anderlucci right now we would get at least 6 m for him as he is the leading goal scorer and has scored 10 goals in the championship, if the others chipped in more we would be in the play offs with abit more steel in defence also .
Antenucci would fetch £500k max in the Championship, because no Prem club would buy him, and at 30 years old he will probably go to Serie B or Lge One, and then you're talking £200k ... Salerno brought in Antenucci, that's what Cellino is saying ... as for backing Cellino, did you also back Bates when he was stripping our club bare? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Quite often I read some very valid comments and posts on this forum, other times I wonder what happy pills people have been swallowing. £6m for Antenucci what planet are you living on? If someone came in and offered to take him for free I would say let him go, £200k would be a fantastic price but £6m is that a wind up?
Evening troops. I think Cellino will always have his way of doing things & sacking the new Chief Scout before he'd even started work is just the latest. But I actually think he'll have learned a lot from last season. For one thing, we appear to now have a more competent Manager than was the start of last season. So that's some progress. For the new season, let's hope we get a few decent incomers with either Championship or PL experience. I also hope we bring Beckford back hope. It'll be an interesting close season, & I note that our fist two friendlies are at a much higher level than is normally the case. So keep the faith chaps.
Boggers, a few points: 1. He wasn't the new Chief Scout, he was an (unsigned) applicant for Head of Recruitment. 2. Head was never employed by us, so how could we possibly sack him? 3. We still don't have a Manager - we have a Head Coach.
