I guess the reason is that there is a plateau that needs to be overcome, and often that proves difficult, especially if you lose players and don't inject the team with some quality. Teams will be set up to play Ipswich differently, and MM only knows one way to play, so there are several reasons to think that Ipswich won't do as well next year- I'm happy to be proved wrong, especially if it means playing the derby in the PL, the season after next.
JWM you really do need to understand, Mick McCarthy is not the answer. You are just throwing away years of potential development. All you Town fans will look back at his tenure as a total waste. Get rid of him and build the club properly, he is a brainless chimp who knows nothing. Being likeable and "honest" (honest in football is just a polite way of saying simple) is not enough. I have no doubt you will all be agreeing with me in six months time. Lets see.
Its the best thing that Norwich (officially now the No1 team in your area) They don't have to play dross and are back with the elite clubs.......plus the mega bucks they will earn this coming season.....
My response was to Canary on the Weald's claim that you have "ALWAYS" been the number 1 club in the area. Was that in the Sixties when we were Champions of the top division and provided England's most successful manager? The Seventies when we were consistently competing in Europe and won the FA cup?The Eighties when in one Season we won a European Trophy ,narrowly missed out on being champions again and supplied the second most successful manager for England?2000/2001 when we had one of the most successful Premiership Seasons for a newly promoted side....If we go on about history, it's because we have one I'll happily admit you have been the better side for the last 4-5 years but "Always"?That's really stretching the imagination to breaking point.
I think the whole point is that historically we haven't always been the most successful, in fact certainly not there's no point disputing that, but that we have always been the biggest club in East Anglia and always will be regardless of honours won. Bigger City (well Ipswich is just a smallish town), bigger fan base etc. ......... <lightsbluetouchpaperandtakescover>
By that "logic" you would no doubt argue that Birmingham City is probably the "biggest" Club in the country!
I bow to your superior knowledge if you'll accept that Northampton is a "bigger" club than either of ours
Luton,Bradford,Plymouth?.......all have larger populations, which according to you makes them bigger sides.Accept it ,you're cheeping out of your behind
"We are Premier League, said We are Premier League" Hope you enjoy yet another year in the Chumpionship girls
Don't think so mate do you? How many boring seasons have you guys spent in that Godforsaken division that is the Championship now? Ipswich are a laughing stock managed by a dinosaur going nowhere treading water, truth hurts don't it?
