For me today yet another racecourse added to the “forget” list: when the word “soft” appears in the going report at Haydock, leave it alone. I think that probably covers most of their season. I warned about fast ground horse Limato on the ground but I got burned on Aljamaaheer, who clearly is no longer in love with the game and should be avoided. At Newmarket I fortunately took the 11/2 about 11/4 winner Sahaafy but did not take the 7/1 about loser Mythical Madness. I guess that is how it goes on a packed Saturday... Looking at the York results, eventually punters will come around to my way of thinking that, since the drainage work was done, the course has become completely unreliable and the only bets that should be placed there are on horses that are a huge form choice (offsetting how the race is run).
Great run by Squire today gents, against some higher rated handicappers from big yards. Hopefully he can progress and just mature a little with age
According to the Irish Racing website the result of Limato's race was described as Good ( Good to Soft in places) Beefy so there must have been a slight ease.
